I recommend you do the earliest one that fits into your schedule. You register for classes at orientation, so it’s good to be able to have first dibs at classes. You can always readjust your schedule. People who take summer semester get last dibs for Fall Registration (it’s lame), and you just have to work with what’s left. Usually they add classes though as needed, or you can readjust during drop/add.

thank you so much for posting this.

My mom loves to procrastinate, so we’ll likely get one of the last dates. However, I thought that honors students get to choose before the others. Does that not apply to the first round of students?

Why do summer students get last dibs? Can’t they go to an early orientation in June?

Honors students do not get priority registration for their first semester. That will start when you register for Spring.

Summer students go to orientation in late April/May and receive guidance and recommendations for summer AND fall classes, but only register for summer. Then those students who were accepted for fall register for fall. Then in July, those on campus for summer C register for fall. BUT, having gone for summer means you have more credits when it comes to registering for spring. And by spring, you register in order of who has more credits. So summer students get ahead that way. To be honest, there are plenty of general education classes and liberal arts requirement classes for summer and fall. The only problem with getting certain major classes is that freshman often end up with more 8am classes, and that may be true for those accepted for summer when they go to register for fall. But once fall comes, everyone is on even footing, and those who went to summer have more credits.

Darn. Oh well… I’ll be going in with 30-40 credits anyway, so most of the classes I’m registering for will be different anyway.

Son started summer. I recall being concerned he would therefore register last and that He didnt get into the Business FIG he wanted. However it all worked out just fine. He found great classes/teachers (and no 8 ams). We stressed for nothing. The offerings are vast and with a little research ( ie using rate my professor) and patience ( you may need to log on once while to look to see if you can get into a closed section - openings do come up) I think you will find there is little to worry about.
