Out of State Deferrals

Do any of you have suggestions about ways to strengthen an application after being deferred for ED? Would it be wise to make another visit Charlottesville and try to meet with someone on the admissions committee? I'm applying out of state (I go to the #1 public high school in NC) and I have a 1530 SAT/32 ACT/SATIIs above 700. I will graduate with 6 APs, I have a 4.5 (weighted) GPA, and I'm in the top 10% of my class of about 400 people. I play varsity lacrosse (NC State Champs) and I have good EC's and great recs, but no legacy. I'm not really sure what to think- I've heard it's almost impossible to get an offer of admission in the spring if you have been deferred. Any ideas/comments would be greatly appreciated!

how about the lacrosse? if your coach can email the lacrosse coach and say that you are possibly interested in walking on and then give the coach your stats..not interested in scholarship but possibly just making the team...just a possibility and with your impressive stats it could be worth a shot.

Wow how did you get deferred?

yeah, seriously, everything sounds good to me. i'd say call admissions and ask--it will show your initiative. best of luck and hope to see you in the class of 09!

Talk to the lacrosse coach.

wtf. how the hell did you get deferred???? If you got deferred, i think my chances are blown!

they defer almost everyone out of state. same for UNC chapel hill. they defer eeven numbeer 1 from virginia.

Will it at least look good if you apply ED from out of state? Maybe they will see your interest in the University and be more inclined to offer you admission for RD?

yea definitely, but ed is gone... so u cant apply ed now,, but if u did apply ED, it will definietly help u
