Out of state transfer

I currently go to a community college and plan on applying to schools to transfer for fall 2014. I expect my gpa to be around 3.7ish when I apply. I will transfer with 65ish credits.

I ruled out applying to UCLA and Berkeley because ive heard its ridiculously hard to get in from out of state so with my gpa I wasnt going to bother.

But, i heard they dont take in consideration remedial classes. For instance my one and only C was in a remedial math class (the only remedial class i had to take). Without that averaged into my gpa is have a 3.85ish GPA.

Anyone know if this is true, that they only look at your transfer gpa and not your actual GPA??

Also does anyone think I would have a chance with a 3.8ish transfer GPA from out of state?

Id be applying to major in polisci and have a 4.0 and my polisci classes so far.

The Uc’s don’t consider remedial courses when factoring in GPA or even the application as a whole. I doubt that “rule” would change just because you’re an OOS transfer. That being said, you might want to call or e-mail some counselors at the various UC’s to make sure that this is the case.

Are you asking about your chances for UCLA/UCB? Or the UC’s in general? Anyways, if you have the money to do so, go ahead and apply to any of the UC’s including UCB and UCLA. I have no idea what your chances would be my friend. Good luck!
