@UFOnline There’s no specific form or anything like that to fill out?
@UFOnline I would like to know if applications for admission at UF are reviewed on a first come first served basis.
@2400FEVER That is a question you should ask Admissions, but no. As long as you have your application in by the stated deadlines (I assume you are referring to Residential Admissions - including PaCE. UF Online admission is handled differently).
@Mdugg9 For appeals you need to call Admissions.
@UFOnline Why admit a student into PaCE who wants to pursue a major into a professional career such as Pre-Medicine which cannot be fulfilled to the PaCE Program and NOT admit a student who wants to pursue a major that can be fullfilled through the PaCE Program?
@UFOnline Referring to my previous post, I meant “NOT admit a student into PaCE but rather into the Traditional program.”
@2400FEVER I would highly suggest anyone interested in a Pre-Professional track (pre-med, pre-dent, pre-vet) to talk to a UF Advisor. Keep in mind that at UF there is no “Pre-Medicine” major. All preprofessional students must major in a major. Every year we have a number of, for example, Philosophy majors accepted to medical school (which is in PaCE). It is not straightforward getting the pre-reqs for pre-professional program through PaCE, which is where an advisor comes in. Each student who is interested in Pre-Professional will have a unique set of circumstances. The potential to be on the Pre-Professional track will greatly depend on the individual. You are correct that Pre-Professional is not encouraged in PaCE, but students should contact Advising to discuss their individual situation.
First I want to take a moment to thank you for taking the time over a holiday weekend to answer so many of our questions! It is greatly appreciated. My question is this- I understand that PACE students are not allowed to participate in many activities because they are fee based and Pace students do not pay those fees. For the students that are interested in moving to Gainesville and living together as has already been discussed- would UF consider a fee optional program where those students who wanted to live up there and pay the fees would be allowed to. I have another student currently at the school and want to provide my son similar access as my daughter currently has. Thanks again.
Hi @Gatorgirl85 At this time PaCE students will not be able to pay fees to get access to everything that residential students have. We have discussed an a la carte-like system, but currently this is not in place. This may change in the future but for the Fall 2015 semester I think the chances are low for a change. If a change is made I will be sure to post that information here.
This is a new program and I know there are a lot of questions out there. I hope the answers have helped. I also know we have not thought of everything (see some great questions in this thread, some of which I hope to have answers to in the next few days). We will continue to look into many of the suggestions that people have put forward, including an a la carte-like system for PaCE students to pay fees.
When PaCe students fulfill their requirement and transition to full status students will they be guaranteed housing that first year?
@ER2019 Housing will likely not be guaranteed for PaCE students transiting to campus. We will look at this more closely when we know how many students accept the PaCE offer. Currently, there is no guarantee for on campus housing for PaCE students once they transition to campus.
Will PaCe students be eligible for the Student exchange program?
Is the meal plan available for PaCe students?
@ET2019 PaCE students ARE allowed to do study abroad. The specifics (how much you will pay, credit transfer) is different depending on the study abroad program that you are interested in.
@ET2109 At this time meal plans are not included for PaCE students since they are “online”. We will re-look at this policy this week since there is a lot of interested in on campus meals for PaCE students.
Can PaCe students do the student exchange program?
Can PaCe students sign up.for the meal plan?
I apologize for the double post.
Thank you so much for your quick answers.
Hello, thank you again for answering all our questions.
As a PaCE student, would you be guaranteed to get in the major/school you pick after you complete the requirements of the PaCE program? Sorry if this was already asked.
Thank you!
I tried calling student activities at UF regarding whether these kids will be able to join fraternities and sororities. The person I spoke to had no idea of what pace was. And apparently there was no one there who is able to answer the question. Does anyone know who I might be able to contact to get that information?
