Parents caring for the parent support thread (Part 1)

@MaineLonghorn , I am so sad to hear this news about such a great man, and his family.

@MaineLonghorn so sorry to read your news. I hope they are wrong, and hope your dad is not in distress over anything. These are tough times.

@compmom , seems like I was always very glad to have moved my mom from her home to Indepent Living (with paid help), AL with paid help, and MC with and without hospice help. And each time I wished I had done it six months earlier. But that is hindsight.

ML. So sorry your dealing with this. Love to you and your family.

@MaineLonghorn - I am so very sorry.

I’m so sorry to hear this. I know it must be a huge shock considering how vital your father has been until recently. Know that very many of us are lifting you and your kids up in our thoughts , prayers, good vibes…whatever we do, individually, as thanks for all you have shared here. May it go easily with whatever is in store for your dad.

ML I am so sad and sorry to hear the news about your dad. I know you help so many, I hope the path for you is as smoothly as possible.

So sorry, ML.

OMG. Hugs ML. Reading this makes me completely furious. The talks about depressed immune system - is it a preemptive CYA? Surgery does not inherently involve infections that are then fought off by immune system. Nope. Poor hospital policies lead to deadly hospital-spread bugs.

I am so sorry.

@MaineLonghorn, I am so, so sorry to hear your news. You have provided much help and comfort to many here and in your NAMI community and I hope you know you are supported as you face this challenging time. Hoping your dad is comfortable and can enjoy his family this Christmas.

So saddened to hear this news; so much for you all to process. Wishing you strength as you support each other through what lies ahead.

So sorry to hear this, ML. Wishing you and your mom the strength to deal with it. Hugs.

@MaineLonghorn - I am so sorry.

Thanks, everyone. @BunsenBurner, thanks for your comments. So many people have failed my dad. He didn’t deserve this.

@MaineLonghorn - so sorry to hear this. Best to your family.

@MaineLonghorn, I am so sorry. Such a terrible outcome for your dad, your mom, you, and your whole family. I remember that during my dad’s final days, this community and this thread in particular were such a comfort to me. I wish the same for you, however much we can help. (((((hugs)))))

Thanks so much, everyone! We’re not giving up. The advocate suggested consulting with the best infectious disease specialist in the country, so I’m going to start a thread asking if people have ideas how to look. The advocate will search, too, but I just want to DO something. I know if the roles were reversed, Dad would be turning heaven and earth to help me.

@MaineLonghorn, so sorry to hear your sudden news. Maybe a specialist will have better answers for you. Your father has always sounded like an extraordinary man.

@MaineLonghorn, I’m so sorry to hear this news. I’m praying that, if there can be any possible reversal of the infection, you will find the specialist who can do it. I’m also sending thoughts of peace to you and to your entire family, particularly your mother.

I’d start at the CDC website. I assume you have the name of the infecting organism.

@MaineLonghorn, what terrible news. I was wondering if hyperbaric chamber treatments would be effective?
