I understand how residence hall assignments work, but parking assignments are not as well explained on the UT websites. It looks like there is a lottery system for garage parking. Do previous year garage parkers get priority or do they go back into the lottery pool with everyone else?
How likely is it if a freshman gets San Jacinto that they also get Brazos garage for instance? What happens if you get your second choice dorm and your first choice parking is on the other side of campus. Can you change it?
They don’t open the lottery until they send out everyone’s housing assignment. A week after the give housing assignments, you have the chance to enter the R permit lottery. It lists which garages you should put for your dorm in an email. There is no priority for previous permit holders according to a page I read. I got Brazos, but I can’t tell you what the chances of me receiving it were. Hope this helped you out
