Parking in south P as a sophomore

Hey Guys. So I currently am 15 credits shy of being a junior, so I still cant have my car on campus. I have heard rumors that south P rules are generally pretty relaxed. So I was wondering if I could be able to leave my car there as long as I moved it around every few days. I really dont mind the bus ride to south P, I just really want my car because I go home most weekends and without my car it adds an extra hour and a half to my trip. Any imput would be great!

As South P is almost exclusively for commuters, after 5pm, the lot becomes virtually empty.

You can take the chance and probably get away with it for awhile, but know that Parking Enforcement has been increasingly “active” over the past few years.

Alright, I mean I really dont have a valid reason to get one, though im trying to get an off campus job at some point in the next 2 weeks. But involving south P, what if “hypothetically” a friend came to spend a few days in your room during the week, like tues-thurs, and parked in south p. isnt that essentially like me parking my car in south p also and owuldnt they get a ticket

They would absolutely get a ticket if parked in reserved spaces.

There is minimal free parking in South P for visitors (temporary only). Otherwise, they have to park in paid lots. The parking staff is pretty vigilant to vehicles that are just “left” in a parking lot for days at a time without a valid permit. They’ll probably catch on after awhile.

I’m not trying to discourage you, but parking tickets are highly annoying on campus. But, if you had to pick somewhere to park “covertly”, South-P, due to its sheer size, is the safest.

Ok, So in reality, the only way I could really get around getting a ticket every day would be to move my car around every other day or so, right

Josh - they check different lots at different times. Even “moving around” may not work for long.
