Parking Situation

I will be living off campus and I understand that on-campus parking at USC is sol d out. What other options do I have? Is there daily parking or something for visitors that I could use? Is there anywhere else to park? I only have class three days a week so I wouldn't mind paying a daily fee. Otherwise what would I have to do? Any help would be appreciated.

I believe parking is 7 bucks per day if you don't have a pass.

You can try street parking but of course there's no guarantee. If you do street park watch out for the days of the week they do street cleaning. If car is park on the side of the street for cleaning you will get a ticket. I lived on W 36th PL last school year and there is street parking but you have to fight for it.....and risk your bumper being scratched from cars parking too close. What about the new parking center that's going up by the 110 freeway?

First, try one of the slightly-off-campus structures, like the Parking Center or PS1. If those are sold out, there is a neighborhood just west of campus that many students end up parking in. I parked there for about a year and a half straight, and the worst thing that ever happened was getting a couple of tickets that I didn't really deserve. It's actually safer than parking at the meters on Exposition.

Do a lot of people ride the MTA to school? I'll be living on Wilshire and Vermont.

Did anyone buy a permit for PS2, the Galen Center? I drove by, and it's still under construction...

I bought PS2...it's under construction? Hopefully the spaces won't be as cramped as PSX. I parked at PSX for orientation, and I kept worrying that I was gonna hit one of those lane-separating safety bars while turning.

I think it's PS2...on that block there's like a Mobil, Sizzlers, the Galen Center, and a parking structure. The Galen Center looks like it still needs a bit of work, whereas the parking structure looks almost completed. The structure does look awfully small from the outside, but I'm not sure if that's PS2.

Where exactly is the PS2 and where would I go to find out information about it or buy a parking pass for it? Keep in mind I'm not in LA right now so I'd need the website or something...

BTW the USC website says all parking for 06-07 is sold out, so that would include PS2 I presume. Is daily parking for visitors always available? I may have to just end up doing that...

Here's the USC Transportation website to buy a permit: http://transnet.usc.edu/

And here's the parking map: http://transnet.usc.edu/Parking/map_frame.aspx

According to USC's website, the only parking available on the University Park Campus is in UPC, Lot 73 Troyland, Lot 55 Helena, Lot 47 Century II, Lot 48 Century Back Lot, and Lot 39 Centennial A Tandem. Anyone know anything about these or have any recommendations on which is the best one to get? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you don't live in those apartments, you're not allowed to park in their lots. So you'd have to get UPC...which really isn't very far, you just need to cross more streets to get there.
