Quick question:

During welcome week, how likely are frats to check your MCards when you’re going into a party? And which ones, if any, do it?

Quick question:

During welcome week, how likely are frats to check your MCards when you’re going into a party? And which ones, if any, do it?

Now that I think about it, I did get my Mcard checked a couple of times. There will be TOO many people at each party so they use that to discriminate. welcome week will be when you see the most students out partying. If you know someone or get there early enough, Im sure they wont care.

During welcome week can freshman attend any frat party? Or is it limited to certain people?

bring a few attractive freshman girls, and you’ll get into any frat party.

If you don’t drink or feel particularly entertained by watching other people drink, is there still something to make it worth going out to parties? Where I am from it is generally not the case so I don’t know if I should even bother or if I should just find other things to do.

You’ll find Ann Arbor nightlife is pretty sweet; there’s always something to do and people are out all night. I think college separates pretty quick into the kids that drink and party and the kids that don’t because I always see the same kids at parties. You’ll find your group and other kids will find theirs. Who knows, you may go to a party and really enjoy it.

At my college the separation meant I had nothing to do but drive to Ann Arbor to go to Necto. XD So I suppose if all else fails Necto is now much more convenient.

I literally cannot drink due to a health condition, I used to drink on occasion but now it’s just completely out of the question. Developing that condition essentially lost me my whole social circle here so I am looking forward to starting over and finding a group I fit in with better.

if people discriminate if you do or do not drink they are not really the type of people you would want to be friends with anyways. I am not a huge drinker, but I still have fun going to places where people are drinking. I just like parties, even if i am not getting messed up. Some people need a “social lubricant” but I am a people person. I drink when I want to. Moderation is your friend.

I am interested more in drug use at michigan. Obviously ann arbor is one of the most liberal towns in all of america in regards to cannabis, but how many people actually smoke and how is that subculture? I myself don’t generally smoke or partake in stuff like that, but it is almost a proven fact that potheads and other druggie/hippie crowds(hate to use those terms but it is applicable) generally tend to be the most accepting and most low key. Is this the case at UofM?

You’ll definitely being seeing weed and some other drugs down at Michigan. Don’t be surprised if you see people walking around the town smoking it. The city has a $25 fine for first offenders and it goes up $25 for each time after. The University has much stiffer penalties, so be careful. Also, Hash Bash happens each year; I’ve never been but some of my friends have gone.

"(Don’t be surprise to find appertizers such as cheese cubs at a party not dominated by alcohol) "

a little disappointed that I still havn’t found the party that hand out cheese “cubs” … I am starting to suspect that it’s easier to find manbearpig

I hope I can find a party with cheese cubes (I’m not kidding, I love cheese).

you don’t have to drink to have fun i guess. I know some people who never drink theyre still cool.

p.s. Necto is wack lol. especially on friday

The thing about Michigan’s party scene is there are so many different cliques and groups of people that it all depends on who you hang out with, who you hang out with defines your party experience.

What sororities pregamed with what frats last year? Or do they already know what it is going to be this year?

this year i believe its something like:
sae with alpha phi, phi psi with tri delt, theta chi with kappa, fiji with ek, pike with axo

basically every year sae, phi psi and theta chi partner with some combo of tridelt, aphi and kkg

Does joining a fraternity really drop your grades? If so, why and how?

It probably doesn’t help boost your grades, but with good time management it shouldn’t really drop (too much anyway). Once someone joins a fraternity (assuming they get a bid), how many hours per week do they usually spend at their frat? Most frats don’t have parties every week right?

I would assume they have parties every thurs, fri, and sat. They just might not be open parties and exclusive ones to greeks only because my friends from high school in Theta Chi and SAE drink at their houses like 4-5 nights a week lol

How hard would it be to get into a top frat like Phi Psi or SAE. Since they’re poplular are most of them dbags?

tbh you shouldn’t be thinking so much about party life when your heading to college. Gonna take a beating on your gpa you know?

ann arbor is a real college town and theres plenty to do so you shouldnt worry about entertainment
