Peabody Transfer

<p>How difficult is it to get a GPA of 3.25 your first year at Vanderbilt? I heard if you get into Peabody and want to transfer into Arts and Sciences if you dont like it you need a 3.25. I am interested in Peabody but if I don't like it as much as I think I want to know that I have an option to transfer. If a current student in either Peabody or Arts and Sciences could fill me on the requirements for transferring or how hard it is to get a 3.25 that would be great. thanks</p>

<p>Much easier to earn a 3.25 as a peabody student than as an A&S student!</p>

<p>A 3.25 is manageable, Peabody classes usually have better GPA potential. Are you a part of the best and brightest Vanderbilt class, ever? Shouldn’t be that hard then.</p>

<p>Can a current Vandy student answer the OP’s question: Is there a GPA cut-off for transferring from Peabody to CAS? If so, what is it? </p>

<p>Thanks!</p>

<p>The following is from the University Catalog on page 57. This can be found online at [Vanderbilt</a> University Undergraduate Catalog](<a href=“http://www.vanderbilt.edu/catalogs/undergrad/]Vanderbilt”>http://www.vanderbilt.edu/catalogs/undergrad/)</p>

<p>Short answer: No, you need a 1.800 after your freshmen year. This raises slightly as you move along in your time here at Vandy. Individual majors may differ.</p>

<p>Intra-University Transfer
Undergraduate students in the College of Arts and Science, Blair School
of Music, School of Engineering, and Peabody College may request a
transfer between the schools. Students are eligible for intra-university
transfer after having been enrolled on a full-time basis at Vanderbilt for
two semesters. To be eligible for transfer, students must meet the requirements
of the school they wish to enter.
Applications are available on the University Registrar Web site and
should be submitted to the Office of the University Registrar by December
1 for the spring session, April 28 for the summer session, and August
11 for the fall session of the following year.
Students seeking transfer between schools within the university must
meet the following requirements: a) a student who has been in residence
for two regular semesters must have a minimum of 24 hours and a cumulative
grade point average of 1.800; b) a student who has been in residence
for three regular semesters must have a minimum of 39 hours and a
cumulative grade point average of 1.850; c) a student who has been in residence
for four regular semesters must have a minimum of 54 hours and a
cumulative grade point average of 1.900; d) a student who has been in residence
for five regular semesters must have a minimum of 69 hours and a
cumulative grade point average of 1.950.
Individual schools and/or majors may impose additional restrictions
beyond the minimum requirements listed above. Students applying to the
Blair School of Music must audition as part of the process. Transfer to the
School of Engineering biomedical engineering major may be on a competitive
and space-available basis and the academic requirements for transfer
may be higher than those stated above.</p>

<p>^^^
GCN2 thanks.</p>

<p>What is the 1.800 GPA scaled out of??</p>

<p>4.0</p>

<p>Not exactly difficult to get a 1.8/4.0</p>

<p>for those people that apply and have a good enough GPA are they guaranteed a transfer?</p>

<p>I don’t think there are such things as 100% guarantees. But I’m guessing that if you fulfill the GPA requirement and can explain why you want to transfer, you will not be denied. Transferring is not uncommon.</p>
