How many people who are deferred ACTUALLY get accepted in regular decision, as opposed to just going on the waitlist? How many out of state? Does anyone know?

I don't think the university releases that type of data.

I just figured that since they said how many people get off the waitlist someone might know the deferral stats, too. Somewhere it claimed it was, like, 10 percent. I think that's a little high...

the deferred applicants have a slim chance of getting in. 10% is pretty low, compared to the regualr 38% chance. In state people have slightly better odds, but its near impossible for out of staters.

don't feel bad! i was an oos deferral acceptee. (still bitter about it)... its possible

I think everyone who gets deferred always has a shot. It means that you weren't a shoe-in and they had to compare you to the RD applicants. You weren't rejected so it doesn't mean they don't think you'll get in.

jags did u send in any extra stuff to make ur app stronger??

i don't believe that shoe-in crap. i don't mean to toot my own horn, but i know i had better stats than most people - instate or oos. I think it just goes to show that there are no "shoe-ins," atleast where oos is concerned.

regardless, thrills, my dad got a senator to write a letter for me lol. so i sent that in. and i sent some other crap, nothing special. I had scored a song for my high school band and i sent that in. I eventually just caved and was like "i was all state, and i'll play in your brand new marching band." then i got there and didn't do it...but anyway, thats the way the cookie crumbles hah.

Jags, what were your stats?

Anyone want to share their experiences about being deferred and later accepted/rejected & their stats?
