Received an email yesterday for a performing arts scholarship program that RIT is starting. Just wondering, did anyone else receive the email/are you going to apply?
I haven’t heard back yet admission-wise and was also wondering if this email is an indication of whether I got in or not.
My D also received the performing arts scholarship email yesterday. She is still awaiting admission notification which the email seemed to indicate would be released later this month.
My son was is admitted and we did not receive the email which is a bit disappointing as I’d love information on it, he’s considering a music performance minor.
@eandesmom The email came from RIT Enrollment Management, New Performing Arts Scholarship Program. “Decided to launch a new scholarship program for incoming students who have strong experiences and strengths in the performing arts.” The email included a link for the application process which is due Mar 15th. Since your son is already admitted he may not have received because the email states, “supplement your admission portfolio with performing arts experiences that can be used in admissions and scholarship decisions” Maybe this is an added tool for admission decisions
He did get an email, but got it yesterday. Which was worded for admitted students and referred to his ED acceptance specifically and then
“From the information you submitted in your application, you may be a good candidate for this new opportunity.”
I’d have been less than thrilled if already accepted students didn’t get the opportunity to apply!
However it’s not through his common app, it’s on his portal. We are going to look it over this weekend but yes definitely planning to apply.
Interesting that the don’t list the amount or a $ range.
I thought that was interesting as well (that they didn’t list the $$). Maybe they’ll decide how much it’s for once they see how many people apply.
For admitted students looks like award notifications have gone out. S received an award today and it was quite a bit larger than we expected. VERY happy, helps close the gap as we were disappointed with his merit award.
did anyone else receive their award this weekend?
@psychicbees did your student receive one?
My daughter was awarded the performing arts scholarship. It says she will have to maintain participation in the performing arts at RIT in order to renew the scholarship eligibility each year.
Do folks mind reporting the amount of their award? Curious to see if it was a flat amount or if it varies.
My daughter was also awarded the performing arts scholarship.
My girl received 1,500 a year.
Congratulations to all! Curious what our (small) group has for their performing art?
My son is a trumpet player, plans to (hopefully) participate in the jazz ensemble and minor in music performance (CS major). He received $2,000.
@eandesmom my DD also got $2000/yr
@eandesmom , my DD is a theatre kid. She is an actress and also a projection designer and a director. Her HS has an amazing theatre arts program and she has been fortunate to be immersed in these experiences for 4 years
My DD received $1500/yr. She plays the cello and plans to participate in the orchestra.
