I'm applying to SAIC for next semester, and I'll probably end up going there. I have a chinchilla that I would hope to keep with me through college, but pets other than fish aren't allowed in the dorms (but service animals are okay). What I'm wondering is, how strict are they in enforcing that? I've heard of other colleges with the same rules that still allow caged animals. I need my chinchilla around to help control my anxiety, but I doubt that would be considered a service animal.

Any experiences with chinchillas or other pets in college dorms? Is it possible to evade the rules on this?
