Picking a dorm

There is no dorm that combines size w/ a lack of partying. The reason big dorms become "party dorms" is becuase there are so many people. With that said, Bobb-McCulloch and Allison are definitely known for bigger parties. If you're interested in a large, quieter dorm Willards is a good choice, but it's a res college, so be prepared for a Hogwarts-like community and points system (yes, there's a point system). 1835 HInman also is an excellent choice. It's suite-style living, which makes it a little more intimate. Hinman also is home to the best dining hall on cmapus.

What is Rogers House like? Anything special?

quick: it depends on which kitchenette you're talking about. i'm not too sure about the other dorms, but slivka has refigerators, sinks, ranges, and ovens on every floor. however, slivka is a little on the extravagent side. you have to provide your own stuff (pans, knives, etc) but it shouldnt cost you anything unless it's kemper. but since freshman can't live in kemper, you don't need to worry about that

What is South Mid-Quad like?? I cna't find a lot of information on it.
and if I put Elder as my last choice...is it safe to assume that I won't get placed there? (I just need a 5th dorm and there is nthing else that I really would want to live in...)

It's a small dorm, probably a good sense of community but not the nicest (very small rooms) nor most social. And if you put it you'll probably end up there.

For anyone doing more than one res college, mind you have one essay to appeal to all of them.

Does anyone know where transfer students end up living most the time? Do many of them join frats/sororities? Do they seem to be alienated since they are such a small group? Thanks ahead time. :)

the top sorority houses don't accept transfer girls (or sophomore girls for that matter) as a general rule of thumb. some girls join some of the other sororities. some of the guys join fraternities
