@Stevecof2017 - How is your S in top 3% if his GPA is 4.0? Doesn’t your school rank UW and W separately? Our school used to do it that way before they completely stopped ranking.
@mommdc I don’t see anything in this that says you have to be top 1% unless im missing something.
@Stevecof2017, Hello! I would like to get you in touch with someone in our office who can assist you. Just sent a DM!

Hi! I received a letter today requesting mid year grades. Can these be my first quarter grades which come out in November or do I have to wait until the semester is over in January? Also, how many kids get accepted from this?
I think it is because my gpa shot up junior year (from a 3.5 freshman and sophomore year to a 3.95 junior year)
Thanks!
@richandra, I am not sure the exact number of students that are accepted after mid-year grades are requested, but it’s certainly not a clear sign for a decision one way or the other - so don’t worry! The Committee would just like a little more information before making a decision. As for sending first quarter grades, I am not sure that is a possibility. You can contact our office to double check: 412-624-7488.

@hailtopitt1787 . My son got invitation for GAP in medicine. It said the deadline to complete the application and other forms is 1 month of email receipt date. Does it mean that every student have different deadlines and is it rolling
@rsmith0208, Congrats to your son! Yes, please go by the deadline on your son’s invitation. Everyone who is invited to apply is notified by January at the latest. After that, the candidates who progress to the next phase are invited to interviews which take place in March. I don’t believe those invitations go out until after everyone has applied. After the interviews, the students who are selected for the Medicine GAP are notified by April 15.

@hailtopitt1787. When do we know about the merit scholarships?
I believe merit notifications will go out from November until March.
@rsmith0208, Those students who qualify for merit-based scholarships are notified, by US mail, any time between mid-November and mid-February. Ultimately, all students awarded a merit-based award are notified no later than March 1st. Because Pitt academic scholarships are so competitive, the Scholarship Committee reviews many admitted students more than once before making a final decision.

My portal says admitted! I didn’t get an email though, maybe that comes later idk.
Date applied: 10/02/16
Date accepted: 10/11/16
34 ACT, 4.0 GPA, 2nd in class, rigorous schedule
Gotta give Pitt props at giving a decision so quick. This was my first acceptance and if I get a merit scholarship I will definitely go!
At what point do rejections come out? I haven’t heard anyone getting rejected yet.
I’m still holding onto some hope, it’s just worrisome that there are students applying later than me and hearing back already and mine just says complete

@hailtopitt1787 How long after receiving an official acceptance email would a GAP medicine invitation come in? Would it come by email or snail mail? I got my acceptance email on 10/6, so I’m wondering if there’s still a chance that I’ll get an invitation.

@hailtopitt1787 Okay, thank you!
My D got acceptance letter indicating Dietrich and pre-dentistry. I am confused as to whether this means she has been accepted to the Guaranteed Dental Program. On her application we chose “pre-dental” so that she will be considered for the Dental Guarantee Program. On the website it seems that this is a separate program from the Pre- Medicine program and therefore does not appear to require an email invite. Can someone clear this up for me? Is she in? will additional correspondence be sent?
@2girls2015, Congrats to your daughter! The initial admissions letter should not indicate whether or not she got into the Dental GAP. She will get a separate communication if she is selected for that program.
