@ryanPA Must be completely random because son completed application on September 4 and already had “admitted” on September 11. In case it somehow matters, he is from Maryland and applied to engineering.
It might also go by school. But if the first acceptances were processed last week, then letters for those should be arriving soon.
@Stevecof2017 Was he accepted to the Pittsburgh campus?
Son just showed on PS this morning as accepted. CBA, 3.5 GPA, 30 ACT. Application submitted early July.
Yes accepted to Pittsburgh Campus-Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences
@slierbon what other colleges is your son applying too I have the same stats and I was wondering?
Congratulations! When did you submit your application?
@hebegebe end of July sometime
@hailtopitt1787 would editing my SRAR in August push me back to the end of the application pile after I submitted the app in early July?
On a completely unrelated note, why do schools like Pitt release their decisions so so early? It seems like they think they have to grab the student before another college woos them. And it seems like we have to apply so so early before all the spots are taken. Many universities don’t even release decisions for another 6 months.
And if someone loved Pitt and clicked “accept admittance” now, would the Pitt merit scholarship committee know to not offer them a merit scholarship because they had already committed? Is it the same for department scholarships?
Thanks for letting me ramble. I’m just a parent whose son loves Pitt. I just made sure he doesn’t put his mouse anywhere near the “accept admittance” button until March at the earliest.
@Stevecof2017 Did your son receive an email before getting the letter? Or did he just see the “admitted” status on psmobile?
@engineur my son said he received an email today as well.
D received email today.
Pitt has rolling admission, so once applications open you can apply whenever you want, and find out a few weeks later if you have been accepted.
I think it’s nice to have an early acceptance. I think those schools that don’t notify until spring are cruel.
My D needed to apply early because she wanted a chance at conditional admission to Pitt’s pharmacy school, and once those 50 spots are gone, they are gone.
The email was very nicely done! Definitely making a good impression. If the merit is there it will definitely be a contender. Just interested to see if they can come close to Alabama merit $$ as my daughter liked Pitt a lot more.
DS also got the cute video link
D just saw the acceptance email after getting home from school today. The video is a nice marketing tactic.
Congrats to all who have been accepted already! Just getting a little nervous for D who applied at end of July to School of Arts and Sciences. Application status on PS Mobile site still says complete. I think her stats are competitive: 3.99 GPA, 1920/2400 old SAT, class rank 10/140, total of 17 Honors/AP courses including senior year. Any thoughts or words of encouragement for us?
How many people received their letters already in addition to the email?
I applied to University of Pittsburgh on August 25, I am very eager to hear back, as Pitt is my top school. Do you know how long until I hear back?
