Group me or gm anywhere?
@Jenner99 Engineering is closed, I applied in early February and they automatically moved me to consideration for Dietrich because there were no spots left.
I am not sure about the others though!
Hey guys : )
I’m thinking of applying to the main campus in a couple of days. My SAT is 1450/1600 and have a 3.75 GPA. Do you think I’ll have a chance?
@jadoie it doesn’t hurt to try. My daughter got in with 3.75 W and 30 ACT. Good luck!!!
@OldCheermomDC Thank you! I’m just worried that all their spots will have been filled up at this point. : (
@rmjk55, With rolling admission, the University of Pittsburgh accepts applications from the time the application gateway is open for a particular recruitment year through the summer prior to enrollment. It’s important to keep in mind that freshmen are currently admitted to one of four undergraduate schools/colleges: the College of Business Administration, the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Nursing, or the Swanson School of Engineering. The quality of the applicant pool and demand for entrance to a particular school or college are two important factors that enter into selectivity. While the majority of freshmen applications are received by February 1, rolling admissions allows students who might not have considered Pitt earlier in the cycle, for a variety of reasons, the opportunity to apply.
Hope that helps clarify!

@hailtopitt1787 Are you still accepting applications for college of business administration? Also, how can I be considered for a different school?
@1600dreamer, Yes, our application is still open. As for being considered for a different school, you will need to contact our office directly to make that request: 412-624-7488 of oafa@pitt.edu.

@hailtopitt1787 About how long does it take for an admissions decision to be determined? My friend applied last week. Your prompt response is appreciated!
@hailtopitt1787 Hello, I recently got emailed from the financial aid office to fill out a survey. They asked me what other school I’m thinking of and how much scholarship they included etc… Does this indicate that I might be getting any sort of scholarship?
Thanks
@si9443322, It takes about 3 weeks to hear back. Good luck to your friend!
@eren2122, I am not aware of that particular survey or it’s purpose. You are welcome to contact the financial aid staff directly with any questions about it: 412-624-7488 or finaid@pitt.edu.

I applied to Business School on the evening of 3/22, and just got the good news today 3/31.
Thank you Pitt!
Btw, the video is hilarious!!
Hi @hailtopitt1787! I sent in my deposit today, and was just wondering about the timeline i can expect to get my pitt email, housing information, when I get assigned an advisor, when and how i can register for pittstart, and things like that! thank you
@outtahere2017, Congrats on committing to Pitt! Here is a very general timeline. I am not an expert in most of these processes, so please forgive me if it’s a little vague! We handle PittStart in our office, but the rest will be coming to you from around campus:
-PittStart information comes your way within a week.
-Pitt email information should come to you soon, I am not entirely sure on that timeline or process. If you don’t get it within a week or two, I would recommend visiting technology.pitt.edu for assistance. They have a 24/7 chat service for all of your Pitt account and technology needs.
-Your advisor will be assigned to you a little later on, I believe after you register for PittStart. If they need to contact you it will be through your Pitt email, so make sure you start checking that once you get it.
-Housing information is sent out in batches, so it kind of depends on how long it’s been since they sent the last batch when you deposit. But you should get something in a matter of weeks.

How’s this for a passive/aggressive rejection letter: “Congratulations on your admission to a University of Pittsburgh campus!” Completely accurate, but kind of cruel for a kid nervously awaiting word about admission. An email from Pitt congratulating him on his admission…to a school he didn’t apply to nor ever heard of (Bradford campus). So after his heart skipped in joy (as did mine when he forwarded it to me), he discovered he was rejected.
I understand ‘letting a kid down gently.’ But I’m not sure this is the best way.
He’ll be fine…has other options. Has probably already forgotten about it. But, @hailtopitt1787 and colleagues, perhaps some thought should be given to a more direct, if empathetic, rejection email.
Congrats to all those who will be attending Pitt (or Bradford or any of the other campuses) and good luck to those who will be going elsewhere. This is my third and final college-bound son and boy am I glad the process is just about over!
@hailtopitt1787 Hi ,Are freshmen required to live on campus for the first year? And do you know if there’s any other accepted students day or any events like that other than the one on April 8 since i cannot come on April 8.
@tle2034, Freshman are not required to live on campus. April 8 is our last Day for Admitted Students for the year, but we have information sessions and tours every week. Stop by for a visit, we’d love to show you around! http://oafa.pitt.edu/visit/

If stats are not high enough to be accepted to Pitt main, a student might be offered admission to a branch campus, there are 4. On the application it asks about preference…
The branch campuses can provide a smaller environment and student can possibly qualify for a Panther scholarship if living on campus.
Tuition is a bit less there as well.
Possibly student can transfer to Pitt main later, if they do well at the branch.
My daughter applied to the Johnstown campus because she thought it would be more affordable than the main one.
Is it too late to apply to the Pittsburgh Campus? She wants to major in Psychology.
@mnmzmom, Your daughter should call our office to ask about switching her application to the Pittsburgh campus: 412-624-7488
