my ps mobile says admitted, but I haven’t gotten an email…am I in?
This is so stressful!
You weren’t meant to find out from psmobile it seems.
You are just going to have to be patient and wait for the admissions office to send out the email and wait a few more days for the letter in the mail.
Seems like there is a day or two lag between psmobile and email, so don’t stress out
Just wanted to update info regarding letters being sent out by Pitt.
D got two additional letters today regarding acceptance into GAP and information about Honors.
She wore Pitt t-shirts to school every day last week! I really hope we can afford this OOS school and are praying for a merit scholarship that will make it an easy decision! Good luck to everyone in all things related to attending:-acceptance, scholarship and financial aid!
@flashk, Congrats! I was just coming to the forum to answer your question about GAP letters and saw that you have already received it.
For others who are wondering, my colleague let me know that most of the GAP letters typically go out 7-10 days after the paper admit letter.

@hailtopitt1787 My son received his admitted letter and video last week. Yesterday he received a letter from the Honors College. He increased his ACT Score (found out today) to a 34 from 32. I believe this will now qualify him for GAP. Will his file now be updated and a GAP letter be sent out automatically or does he need to contact the school? His PS Mobile account already has his new ACT scores posted as of yesterday. This would also apply to merit scholarship. Thank you for your help.
My son has not heard yet. Applied very early. He did state that he was retaking the ACT on 9/10.
All he got was an email giving him a new PIN number to use instead of his social security number.
Any thoughts?
I haven’t heard of anyone getting a rejection yet. Very anxious.
@Stevecof2017, If your son is selected for a Guaranteed Admission Program, we will contact him. He doesn’t need to take any action. Same for merit scholarships, though he should fill out the optional short answer questions to be considered for all merit scholarships.

If you have indicated that they are retaking a test, they might just wait until they have those scores.
I applied at the end of July. I have heard nothing except for the peoplesoft number email last week. I am a little anxious as well. I wonder if the review and acceptances are just random?
Yes, I don’t think they go by date applied because some accepted students applied in Aug or July.
Other schools might not even be releasing decisions for several months yet, try to be patient.
Pitt admissions decisions have just recently started to be released, I am sure the admissions office is working very hard.

I just got the email today with the cute little video. I indicated on my application that I was going to be taking the October SAT and I thought maybe they would hold my application, but apparently not. When I called to ask about it on Monday before I found out I was accepted, the lady initially made it sound like you would be made aware if they were holding your application for later test scores. I’m assuming she meant that they would send you a letter letting you know that they were holding your app.
Got in earlier today!!!
Applied 8/19 (SAT scores didn’t go through until 8/31)
Applied to Dietrich Schools of Arts and Sciences
2010 SAT (680 M 670 CR 660 WR)
Class rank 8/222
All AP and Honors for core classes
Congrats to everyone else who already got in and good luck if you haven’t heard back yet!
@hailtopitt1787 if I’m already in with honors program, GAP, etc., what’s the time frame for merit scholarship evaluations? If I wait to write & submit the essay questions until, say, December, will they be there in time to be considered for merit scholarships?
My D got the email today - accepted!
@nac7890, I would encourage you to submit your short answer responses before December. The Scholarship Committee will begin reviewing applicants in October. They meet weekly and make decisions on a rolling basis, so getting those questions submitted sooner is better for your chances. It is required that applicants submit responses to the Short Answer Questions in order to be considered for scholarships.

@mad1623 Hey I was wondering, since you got in, when did you apply and what was your SAT, ACT and GPA? Thank you!
Applied 8/4, marked complete mid August.
In state
GPA: 93% unweighted (school doesn’t do 4.0 scale or weigh GPAs)
Rank: 75/301
SAT: 1280/1600
ACT: Didn’t take it yet
I took 16 credit hours last year at my local community college and got a 4.0 GPA.
I sent both my ACT and SAT scores. My SAT was lower overall than my ACT composite but I didn’t want to just send one test score with my application. Also my SAT critical reading score was in the higher range and I thought that might help as well. Will the lower overall SAT score hurt my chances at admission or do you think the higher ACT will be the score that will be considered?
