I have chosen to attend Stonybrook-woot! Now that I have chosen this university, I have to choose my courses for freshman year.

Will I be able to place out of pre- calculus/college algebra with:
780- Math 2 Subject Test
750- Math 1 Subject Test
750- SAT Math Reasoning

Will I be able to place out of Introductory Chemistry :
5- AP Chem Exam
800- Chem Subject Test

Will I be able to place out of introductory English with:
630- Critical Reading
670- Writing
1300(CR+W): Subscore
99 English Regents
**I have taken normal english all four years of high school so no AP credit-.-

Also, have I fulfilled the language requirement with 100 on the Spanish regents?

As a university scholar, will I have to take a bunch of extra seminars? I don't want to take too many extra courses because I want to graduate early and go on to med school.

Yay! Congratulations and welcome. (Sign up for my University Scholars seminar at Orientation!)

Math: No, you’ll need to take the placement exam.
Chem: Yes; you’ll get credit for Chem I and II. HOWEVER, if you’re thinking about med school, it might behoove you to still take a college chemistry course; yes, you’ll still have to take Orgo, but it might not be a bad idea to get through Honors Chem I and II anyway. You’ll talk about it at Orientation.
English: Yes, you’ll bounce right into ENG 102 (or 103 if you want the Honors option).
Spanish: Yes, your language requirement is fulfilled.

Extra seminars: No, not at all. You’ll take the USCH 101 freshman seminar (maybe even with me! I’m awesome!), but everyone takes a seminar of some kind. Other than that, it’s the standard curriculum, although we do reserve seats in some of the more popular classes for Scholars.

Chris

Would a 4 or 5 on the AP Calc AB exam do anything? How about Psychology?
Also I have a 700 on Math II and 680 on Bio SAT IIs, will those do anything?

@93: For math, you must take the placement tests(SAT means nothing though the AP credit may get you out of calculus one). The Biology won’t do anything either. I am not sure about the psychology though.

@Chris: Do I have to take beyond college algebra for premed?

@Hideoo1 : For Pre-Med you need a year of calc, so most likely you’d either take 131/132 or 125/126 .

do high scores on any regents exams exempt you from any courses, or place you in higher level courses?

^I was wondering the same thing about Regents scores…

Also, I heard that high SAT scores on CR and Writing can place you into Writing 102. Is that true? If so, I’m assuming 800 on both would cover that for me?

Only from the language course requirement, must have >=85 on a language reagents, applies to all SUNYs.
