Just a few questions I had about the placement test.

1)How many questions is the math one or what % do I need to be able to take Math 21A? How well would I need to score to be able to take Math 21B?

2)How many question is the chemistry placement test? I am really freaking out about this one…Chem was sophomore year…any ideas what I should do to review?

Dude, we’re so similar! I’m in EE too, and I think I’m really screwed for the Chem placement test… it was like 3 years ago and I don’t remember a thing… this is bad for our lives lol

To answer your first question (although you should’ve taken it already), the math placement test is 60 questions long with an allotted time of 90 minutes. They give the scores and what class you’re eligible based on your score in the Math Placement Test FAQ (the links should be in the emails they sent you regarding that). I think you need like 35/60 for 21A and 50/60 for 21AH (minimum requirements).

I believe they sent you an email about the score ranges for Math.

Don’t worry about the chem placement…it was ridiculously easy. Pretty much a STAR test. You don’t even need a calculator!

there are 44 questions on the chem placement and you need a 21 to pass it. If you don’t pass the chem placement you get workload and if you pass you need to take chem and you can’t downgrade and take workload.

I haven taken chem since 9th grade so i was a bit iffy & i talked to my peer adviser and she said all the advisers expect incoming freshmens to fail the placement exam and take workload. & by taking workload does not mean you’re getting ‘behind’ in any means. it’ll only help you especially in my case where i want to do something science related and it’s best if i did get some workload help before i go in without preparation. Don’t stress really just do your best and go from there.
