Places To Eat Out - SGV Edition

<p>Due long for a food issue (several months), I finally had time to compile a list of eateries that I recommend in the San Gabriel Valley area. These restaurants, however, are focused in the Monterey Park, San Gabriel, Alhambra area.</p>

<p>If you like Asian food and don't mind a trip of 30-45 minutes out to the valley (depends on traffic and how fast you drive), then try some of these places. I didn't include the "traditional" Asian restaurants because those are not places college kids would typically go, in my opinion.</p>

<p>I provided the links of the dining menus in no particular order, for lunch and dinner. (Note: Some menus haven't been updated, so costs might be slightly higher) Included are locations and simple maps at the very least. Enjoy!</p>

<p>my relatives usually goto New Capital in San Gabriel and NBC Seafood in Monterey Park.</p>

<p>NBC = HUGE wait if you arrive after 11-ish on weekend mornings. Get there EARLY, or nurse a growling stomach for 30+ minutes. </p>

<p>There's a Pho Hoa in the same plaza as NBC, and we used to go there a lot, but I think it changed owners or something, so my dad avoids it now. idk y</p>

<p>We go to Pho 54 (8450 E Valley Blvd, Rosemead, CA 91770) instead. It's my dad's go-to place. Every Saturday, he's like, who wants to eat pho with me! And if nobody wants to go with him, he goes anyway. And trust him, dudes. He was raised on that stuff.</p>

<p>I love Galangal (Thai food), on Garvey and Orange in MPK. I've heard Thai Purple was better, but I've yet to go there. And I'm not Thai, so I probably don't really know Thai food very well. Pretty romantic place. Like, there are candles on the tables and everything. More tables for two than tables for six.</p>

<p>If you're in the mood for karaoke, there's Elite Restaurant (<a href="http://eatdrinknbmerry.blogspot.com/2007/03/elite-restaurant-monterey-park-ca-step.html)%5B/url%5D"&gt;http://eatdrinknbmerry.blogspot.com/2007/03/elite-restaurant-monterey-park-ca-step.html)&lt;/a>, where you can rent a private room that fits like, two dozen people and sing to your heart's content. Apparently, the food's also pretty good. And then there's Battambang (Battambang</a> Seafood Restaurant, San Gabriel, CA : reviews) which has a huge dance floor, but there's only one room so you better have tolerable ears. Food's very Chinese-wedding seafood-ish.</p>

<p>Um, that's all I can think of right now.</p>

<p>franchised asian food always sucks. we have pho hoa up here in norcal. bowls were small and it wasnt great. i think the one i went to was the first location too.</p>
