I am a newly admitted student and although I have visited the campus briefly before, I was wanting visit it once again before I formally send in a deposit. I already missed the stern admitted day because I already had other commitments that I couldn't get out of.

Do you think it's worth making a visit? I am going to Stern so I wanted to see that specifically and perhaps meet with advisors/students. Is that still possible? Anyone know of any events by chance?

I think you have to set up an appointment with a campus representative or something if you are coming on your own day. If you aren’t far from NYU I might consider going just to get a feel for it, although it is going to be the week before finals so I don’t really know…

I went on the general nyu campus tour and felt that it really didn’t give me a great feel for the campus. Consider visiting and touring specifically each part of campus you’d like to see including the Stern building.

I’m not sure how well individual visits would work but if you live close by it’s never a bad idea to go check out the campus again. You might have to call in advance to visit specific buildings but otherwise you can chill around washington square park, walk up to union square, etc. if you want a feel for how life goes the first year or so.

If you are considering visiting NYU before the May 1st acceptance deadline classes will still be in session. The last day of classes is Monday, May 3rd. Tuesday, May 4th, is Reading Day. Finals run from May 5-11. To really see the campus running at “full speed”, try to visit on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. There are far fewer classes scheduled on Fridays and Mondays, so if you visit on those days you need to account for that in your assessment.

Standing still at Gould Plaza and in front of Bobst at 12 noon is nearly impossible on a Monday. I don’t understand how there could possibly be less classes on a Monday, considering most classes run twice a week, either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. Most recitations are in the middle of the week. But I definitely agree that Fridays are really light around campus.

Though they aren’t Stern specific, do you think it’s a good idea to go to one of these? I’m going to be traveling by flight so I don’t want to waste time.

Also, is it possible to sit in on a class at Stern maybe?
