If I were you I would not apply to Penn ED. The list has too many reaches with that SAT score and UW GPA. Apply to Duke or JHU ED. You should have a good shot at them. IMO take out Penn, Dartmout, Princeton. Apply ED to one of Duke, JHU and Cornell. Add some matches like University of Richmond and William and Mary (both are instate).

Most of the schools you are interested in would be reaches. But if you REALLY want to go to UPenn, the best thing to do would be to show interest. That will make you stand out even more. Also, since you SATs are relatively low, why don’t you try the ACT? That’s what I did, and it turned out that I was much better at the style of test that the ACT is. Last but not least, don’t be deterred from applying to reach schools. There are so many other qualified applicants out there that the selection really becomes random.
Chance: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1663258-chance-me-liberal-arts-some-ivies-some-sunys.html#latest</a>

Thanks strawberry3 I will actually be trying my SAT again in october and hope to get a 2300~.

Good luck with your SAT, but no amount of interest is going to sway an ivy league admissions officer. You can use collegedata.com to determine if colleges on your list value interest. Your GPA is decent but your SAT scores are mediocre. I’d say vtech is a safety because you are from Virginia and UVA is a match for the same reason. I do not know about VCU, but the rest will be reaches. Since you are a rising Senior it would be best to decide on a major so you can pick safety and match schools accordingly. Also, apply ED to your #1 school you shouldn’t expect to get in any reaches ED so only apply ED to your top school.

If you don’t mind, chance me back! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1663581-my-chance-at-engineering-schools.html#latest</a></p>

If you bring up your SAT or try the ACT and do well on that, then I think you’ll be competitive for some of the schools that you’re looking to apply to. The ivies and duke are reaches for everyone, so it’s difficult to say. If your scores go up and you’re still EDing to UPenn, then you’ll have a good shot. I’m also considering EDing to UPenn and according to parchment.com, the calculated % acceptance went up around 12%, so you might want to see what parchment gives you.

I think all of your stats are very impressive! I’m sure you have high chances of getting accepted, if I could provide you with any advice it would to maybe raise your SAT score. Other than that you’re looking good!

Chance me back at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1663748-how-am-i-looking-for-an-acceptance-into-clemson-university.html#latest</a></p>

Thank you (:

I am going to judge your Penn ED based off of a friend of mine who did not make it (I am no expert at all though). The conviction:

Improvement in SAT by 200-300 Points: High Match (amazing at a school like Penn)
No Improvement in SAT: Moderate Reach

Chance me back! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1663849-chance-me.html#latest</a></p>

Your chances aren’t too good. You say you could bring your SAT to around 2300, but that is easier said than done. Your gpa is a bit low and your an ORM. At the moment your chances are extremely low.

Your application is competitive provided you raise your standardized test scores. Take the ACT: people who generally do well in school usually do well on it, versus the SAT, which is more all over the place. If you score well on the ACT, you also don’t need to submit subject test scores at UPenn, which is an added bonus. In short, if you raise your test scores, you will definitely have a shot (especially since you are a first generation college student). Also, since the Model UN is (in my opinion) your strongest leadership position, I would play it up and talk about how dedicated you are to the club. Best of luck!

Id say ur a match for instate schools… if you bring your SAT scores up the others may be within your reach as well. :)

Thanks for chancing me!
Spectacular grades, great rec’s, good EC’s - but they’re not particularly stand-out (unless you won major awards in piano). I think your MUN is pretty great too, so you should emphasise it
I think try to get at least 2100+ on your SAT  Don’t have to feel pressured to get 2200/2300+ - they say once your SAT is 2100+ you’re set with your SAT score. Or if you can work quickly the ACT will probably be easier. give it a try.

Once your SAT hits 2100/you do well on the ACT, your chances at UPenn will probably be low reach. Right now, it’s a reach-high reach (sorry). Don’t give up hope though, a great essay can really make an application :D

Add a few more match/safety schools.

Tbh, the top colleges are always reaches and your app is quite common.

I would say that all of the colleges that you are mentioned are reaches. Have more safety or match schools.

Try the ACT and Good luck.

Chance my friend please: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1664084-chance-me-for-top-colleges-will-chance-back.html#latest</a></p>

UPENN early decision: reach
Virginia tech: match
UVA(Early Action): match
Princeton: high reach
Cornell: low reach
Dartmouth: reach
Duke: reach
Johns Hopkins: low reach
VCU: safety

Chance me back, please! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1664137-chance-me-please-uchicago-williams-will-chance-back.html#latest</a></p>

UPENN early decision: low reach
Virginia tech: match
UVA(Early Action): Low Reach
Princeton: high reach
Cornell: low reach
Dartmouth: reach
Duke: Low Reach
Johns Hopkins: low reach
VCU: safety

Thanks for chancing me!

@happykid123 if I did johns Hopkins as early decision would the low reach be a match

@thearrow‌ yes, I think your chances would be much better. The ED admissions rate is greater than 30% I believe.

UVA is a match, VT is a match, VCU is a safety. Everything else is a low, mid, or high reach. Thanks for chancing me!

UPenn ED - High Reach
Virginia Tech - Safety
UVA(Early Action) - Match
Princeton - High Reach
Cornell - Low Reach
Dartmouth - Reach
Duke - Reach
Johns Hopkins - Reach
VCU - Safety

Everything would go down a level (i.e. low reach - > high match) if you were to raise your SAT scores. Your extracurriculars are awesome, albeit a bit commonplace. Make sure in your essays you talk about what makes you different, than everyone else who does what you do. I agree with the others in that ED to JHU would be much smarter than doing so for UPenn.

Chance me?

I think piano is really going to help you. Sats of course would need to go up.
