Should heroes be defined as people who say what they think when we ourselves lack the courage to say it?
Great individuals throughout history shaped the world into what it is like today by saying what they believe in. however, many of us lack this ability and are content to go through a life following the crowd. We will accept what society says are right even though we know in hear they are wrong. A true hero should be defined as a man who can gallantly say out what he believe in despite everyone around doubting him. This universal notion is exemplified through history.
The prime example is the intrepid girl—Malala Yousafzai. She is a seventeen-year-old girl who advocates for the right of Pakistani women and children. Even though the coercion, Taliban, forbids women to learn, she still insists women deserve education right instead of being treated unequally. When everyone surrounding her is afraid of the consequences of opposing dictator, Malala is the only one who has the courage to stand out and fight for her consanguinity despite the corollaries of series of attacks and adversities. Because of her sacred commitment, she received the 2014 Noble Peace Prize and becomes an indelible heroine in the history.
Another exemplary paradigm is the perpetual president—Abraham Lincoln. During his presidency, the racism problem erupted into the unbridled warfare—Civil War. At that time, many white were please to discover that they can accomplish a great amount of work with a work force that not only requires no compensation but also reproduces itself. On the other side of the society, African American were beaten, separated from their family and forced to toil laboriously in field their entire life. However, Lincoln believed that denying a person’s God’s given right based strictly on races would not make America a better democracy. Eventually he stood out and spoke for African American. This comportment inspired many who did not have the courage to do the same and ultimately, The Emancipation Proclamation was issued. When no one could defy the majority of the public, Lincoln stood out and strived for the freedom and progress of America. Because of this, he was deemed to be one of the greatest president in US history not only by American, but also by the people of whole world.
From the quintessential epitomes above we can fathom heroes should be defined as those who have the courage to say what they think when others lack of the courage to do it. Many people accept a life of quite resignation, committed to maintaining the status quo. However, there is always a small group of people who decide not to follow the trend and say what they think are right. These people commit themselves to the advance of the whole society and should be dubbed heroes.
