Hi everyone, this is my first essay so if possible, i would really appreciate some detailed comeback.

Prompt: Do you believe that one should sacrifice life for liberty?

Although freedom is stated in the United States Constitution as an inherent right, people around the world have sometimes stuggled in acquiring this pssession. I agree with the notion that one should risk their life for liberty because one cannot wait around and simply hope that someone will give them their freedom. As history has shown us, in both the American Revolution and the American Civil War, freedom is a right worth dying for.
In the American Revolution, the American colonists chose to enter into a war with England in order to acquire their freedom. The colonists has grown to view England and its government as a tyrany that denied colonists their fundametnal rights, such as reprsentation in government. Despite England's superior military and naval power, the colonists risked their lives in order to gain their freedom. The colonists had learned after years of abuse, that the British government would not easily give the colonies and their inhabitants the freedom that they seeked. Hundreds of thousands of Americans realized that freedom would only be gained with a struggle, a struggle that would become the American revolution. In the end, the colonists succeeded in acquiring their rights; if the colonists had not risked their lives, they may have never gained their freedom.
The American civil war also demonstarates that one should sacrifice one's life for freedom. The 54th regiment of the Civil War consisted of black volunteers who fought in order to gain freedom for all blacks in the united States. This group of blacks, along with many others, saw a chance to fight for their freedom and they took it. After centuries of discrimination and oppression, the American black population knew that freedom would not come without a fight. In order to gain freedom, the members of the 54th regiment risked their lives fighting against a ruthless opponent.
freedom is a precious right that unfortunately, is not always gauranteed. In times where freedom is denied, it is better to risk your life for it than wait around and do nothing.
