Please Help! I Don't Know What To Do

Please Help!!!

I submitted my FAFSA in October but I have been getting emails from Mount St. Mary’s which say this

"We have received a copy of your 2018-19 FAFSA. However, it has been Rejected by the Federal processing center for the reason(s) listed below. We encourage you to review your FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov and make the necessary corrections.

REJECT REASON(S):

The FAFSA needs to be signed by the student and the parent. The student and one parent need to create an FSA ID (Username & Password). Click on the FSA ID icon at the top of the page. This will allow you and your parent to sign the FAFSA form electronically."

I don’t know what to do. I’ve gone in and signed my FAFSA but they keep sending this to me, it’s the third time. I’m scared I won’t qualify for aid now. I really need responses or suggestions because my FAFSA deadline for UMD is January 1st. Should I call the financial aid office directly at Mount? I’m certain I’ve filled out the forms correctly. This might be extra information but my FAFSA doesn’t let me go past the “Financial Information” tab, even though I have imported information from the IRS page, I have to click on the last tab to move forward.

Thank you!

Both parent and student need separate FAFSA I.D.s.

@Astro77 I did have it signed with both student and parent ID’s. Is there any way to double check?

Why didn’t you call the FAFSA office directly? They have been very helpful to me, when I’ve called.

@kelsmom

I must not be well informed…but I thought that a FAFSA would not even process without parent and student signing. So how did this student’s FAFSA get to the school if they claim it wasn’t signed?

I would call the helpline. I also don’t know how a FAFSA without parent signature was submitted.

Did you match up the FSA ID to the correct parent? There is parent 1 and 2 if you have two parents, but only one needs to sign.

I did match them up, after the first notice, I signed the FAFSA and so did my parent. I submitted the FAFSA and have continued to get emails like that saying that it hasn’t been signed, now the FAFSA doesn’t show me an option to sign because I already have.

Call the college financial aid office, and ask about this. It could be an error at their end as well.

@happymomof1 Hi! I did call the office and I got it all resolved, I had to start over my FAFSA and resubmit. Thank you :slight_smile:
