I have written two college essays. My first essay is okay- it is about a summer trip that I went on and how this aided me in my transition to adulthood. My ideas are good but I don’t know if I love the way it sounds. My second essay is written much more poetically and intelligently, for some reason I just can’t get the same result from essay #1. However, essay #2 is about a topic much more personal; my mother’s addiction. I really like the way I have written it and I think I described addiction in a tasteful way appropriate for admissions officers, but I still am feeling insecure. For this reason, I wanted to do a kind of simulation. AO’s do not personally know me, and of course, you all do not either. I was wondering if anyone would read my essays for me and tell me which you find to be a better option? Please, please, please, help me! Application deadlines are approaching and I am stuck. Comment and let me know if you would be interested in reading them for me! Thanks in advance.
Just by reading your post, I think number 2 is better if you did not fall into the pitfall of focusing the essay on your mother as it is more personal and will better allow colleges to understand who you are.
There’s an essay section in this forum and you can post there to find some readers.
I second comment #1… use the essay that shows who YOU are. It seems as though the second essay topic is very close to you, and as long as you are the focus of the essay and not your mom you should be fine with AOs. Good luck!
i would be happy to read the essays. PM me
