Hello, I could submit my common application with no problem, but today my counselor told me that she could not send her recommendation letter via Naviance. She attempted to submit the letter using Naviance edocs several times, but all attempts failed. Each time she gets an email that says "An error occurred while submitting." Yet, two other teachers could submit their recommendation letters just fine! Does anyone know what the problem is?

I know many people are stressed out with all these glitches. . . Crossing my fingers that they all get solved fast.

The Common App has been having lots of technical problems, causing many schools to push back their EA/ED deadlines… tell your counselor to try submitting it at different times of the day. I had to submit my stuff at noon (I skipped lunch at school and went home) for it to actually go through.

Thank you, cabooser. But it seems that trying at different times doesn’t help either. So, should my counselor contact the Naviance or the Common Application for troubleshooting?

Why not both? Couldn’t hurt to send an email to both. You can submit your common app without LOR’s ready, the teachers/counselors usually have a later deadline to submit theirs to the school.

Same problem. It is a common app issue according to Naviance. Common App technical support seems to copy and paste different sections of the help manual when replying to a question, even by the counselor. Colleges need to sign on to eDocs directly and use th eCommon App only for the essays and other information. Their being in the middle of transcripts and recommendations delivery is not working. I doubt that colleges really care that much. They get their application fee, get to mark the application incomplete and turn it down. CA and Colleges should get ready for a major lawsuit.

Well, here is an update of the situation but not necessarily a progress…

My counselor submitted the letter and my transcript, and the naviance page shows “submitted”
And yet, she still receives an email that says an error occurred! Does anyone have a similar problem?

Here is an update from our end. Common App, for the first time in the last three weeks, finally admitted on their facebook page that this is even a problem. I wish I had more confidence in their statement that this is simply a delivery issue. There is no visibility. The counselor name is missing. Colleges have seen no materials and are requesting emailed documents now. The counselor is grouchy (and understandably so). I actually wish I could somehow help her with other stuff because mailing to colleges adds to her already heavy load.

I wish colleges would drop Common App and go the route of MIT which uses eDocs and scoops materials without extra synchronization with Common App.
