Please Reply: Business School

I'm in a difficult position.
I have two options ...

CUNY Baruch is a college in the city (new york), it has a pretty good business program... and very cheap/affordable. I really want to stay in the city to be with my family (family person), and i want to save money as well.
advantage: i get a car haha, get to stay with my fam, enjoy NYC life

Then theres Boston U. I'll like to try dorming, but I'm scared that I wont like it there, and I think I'll miss my family too much (homesick haha), and I dont like unfamiliar places... I'm afraid my whole life will change and I'll turn into an emo lol.
advantages: more friends dis: no fam.

I have main questions... Which business program is better and is it worth it to pay about 15-20,000 a year for BU? Ultimately, which is a better choice?

Please help me decide by listing the advantages and disadvantages!

thanks btw

Boston is a fantastic city to attend college, and I would not worry about not liking it. You're not that far away by train (except the Wednesday before Thanksgiving when every college student in the area seems to be on the Mass Pike, Amtrak, or I-95). Either way, you will change and going away for college doesn't mean you're going away for good (it may just take a few years to get back).

At the undergraduate level, I do have to ask if there are any business programs that are worth $60-$80,000 more. If you are serious about business, an MBA or advanced degree (possibly with work beforehand, many MBA programs like to see real-world experience) is highly likely, and THAT is when the reputation of the program will count. (S is facing a similar decision re: undergrad now with law-school later unless he changes his mind in 4 years).

Better questions to look at now: Breadth of business school offerings (undergrad is way too early to specialize), connections with local and regional businesses for internships and co-op programs, is their a pre-professional placement office, how effective are they at helping students, or are you on your own? If you are interested in a particular area (Wall St, say) perhaps you or your parents know someone in the field who can advise you on school selection.

BTW, a car in NYC? (Or Boston, for that matter). Really? How about this: If you go to CUNY, ask if they can help you invest it for you (don't put it in your name - will hurt fin aid!) and you'll have something to help you get started in 4 years.

Good luck with your decision.

Thanks.

What do you mean by asking them help invest it for me? Is that possible...?

I have a general question... Does it really matter what Undergraduate school I go to?

Is it only the Graduate/MBA level that it really matters?
