My situation is a bit complex. I come from a poor family (we make around 25k a year). Now, I have two choices I can make, the first is a private university (Boston University's SMG) versus CUNY Baruch in New York . I'm planning to go to orientation for both of the schoosl before I make my decision (is that okay?)

BU would cost me around 20-25k (I got 31k in grant and loans).
CUNY Baruch would cost me almost nothing.

Ultimately, I would try to apply to NYU Stern next year as a sophomore (though it is practically impossible).

Which college should I go to? Is anyone familiar with CUNY Baruch and their grading system and how many people actually transfer out to better schools such as Stern? Is their school overall hard to get good grades?

I know BU has a reputation of being one of the toughest grading policy for freshmens especially so the possibility of transferring out is slim...

Thanks in advance !

I would choose Baruch simply because it costs a heck of a lot less. How does BU expect you to pay 20-25k a year when your family makes 25k a year? It's not like Baruch has a poorly respected business program either.

... and no, it's not okay to wait to make your decision after attending both orientations. If someone else is to get off the waiting list after you decline from one of the schools it will be too late for them to attend orientation!

blackeyedsusan, you're correct. I'll make my decision before this week ends...

Taking money out of the question :O, which is a better school? Does anyone know whether Baruch has a better opportunity for jobs in the future as compared to BU?

I just realized I got into the precalculus course which is complete bull...

I took precal in 11th grade with a 98 average, calculus in 12th grade with a 95 average. And I also took the Calc AB . Is it typical for first semester freshmen to take precal and then is it possible to take calculus the 2nd semester?
