Plebes and Away Football Games?

This may be a dumb question - but do the plebes get bussed to the away football games that are within driving distance?? I'm thinking about buying tickets to the Army-Boston College game. Also, if the Plebes do go to an away game, is there any chance to actually see them or talk to them?

Side question - anyone know anything about cell phones. Do they get issued them by USMA? Or can they use their own once CBT is over? If so, does it make sense to bring current cell phone and put it in packed luggage for after CBT?

Thanks in advance for any help on these questions.

P.S. There was a very nice front-page story in our local paper about my son attending West Point. Even though I live in a very BLUE town, the response has been very positive. We just got a call this a.m. from a mother of a USMA, Class of 1969. She and her husband live down the street. It turns out that we have FOUR West Pointers (counting my son) who either live on our street or who grew up on this street - street is only three blocks long. Buzz Aldrin, Class of 1951, also grew up here and was quoted in the piece about my son - Aldrin was nice enough to then send a signed photograph to my son.

The only football game that the Cadets are bussed to is the Army-Navy Game. Depending on duties and other variables that are too numerous to make blank statements about, they can obtain a Spirit Pass to attend away sporting events. However, travel is not provided. I believe that the Cadets sit together, but do not think that there are restrictions to keep you from sitting with your son.

There has been movement over the last couple of years for the USMA to provide cell phones to the Plebes as part of the computer/PDA package, but this has not happened yet. Perhaps next year. Cell phones are allowed after A-Day. Cell phones are not on the list of things to bring so it would likely be best to keep it at home and take it with you to A-Day or send it to him if you can not attend.

Good luck to you and your son.

Cell Phones-We do not get issued cell phones. It is against the rules to use them during CBT. My parents are bringing it me on A-day.

Away Games- I dunno about a Boston game, but Texas Cadets can be flown to a Texas game to watch the game, and for the rest of the weekend are free. I saw a couple of plebes at this year's Army Houston Game.
