PLEEEASE!!! Help me pleeeease!!!!!

This semester has been one of my roughest. Right now I am in Organismal Biology a 5 unit course that I did not necessarily need because I changed my major. For the past two months I have been very, very, sick so my grade right now is suffering. For some strange reason(I know stupid) I thought that my 60 transferable units included my IGETC by the end of Spring. At this point I am considering taking a 'W" and adding two other courses to help me get to my 60. But at this point it looks like I will only be able to add one course. Do you guys think that my acceptances will be taken away if i dont get the 60 transferable units????
By the end of spring 58 units

GPA- 3.77 American Studies major
Applied to UCI(in), UCD, UCLA, UCB

at first glance i thought Organismal Biology was something else…

but umm yeah i think its very important to have the 60 units b/c its a requirement. i suggest you talk to your instructor before you withdraw, see if you guys can work something out.

You need 60 units, just talk to your counselor

I have talked to her and my grade is suffering major. Do you guys think that UC’s will really take away my acceptance for missing two units???

Those bastards are certainly capable of doing that. Can they? Certainly. Have they? Again, yes. Will they do it to you? No one on here is going to know for sure, but you might get some good advice.

Well, what was your counselor’s advice?

Okay, I can tell you with 100% certainty that you need to have 60 units except for UCR.

At this point, you either take the W and wait a year, fail the class and get your admission decisions rescinded along with hurting your chances for next year (worst option), sign up for 2 more classes (what I would do) and do your best to get those units, OR stick it out in Organismal Bio and get a C and land those 60 units.

I would recommend striving hardcore for a C. Go to office hours and show a legit interest. Explain your situation and let the professor know that you’ve been trying hard despite your condition. Professors are people too and have feelings/will sympathize for you. Definitely strive for the C.

If the C is out of the question at this point, either take 2 other courses and work your butt off or take the W and wait until next year :/.

I wish you the best! :)

My counselor suggested that I tough it out and get a C but man it is going to be so hard. Some professors are so evil these days I tryed to add so many short term classes and they all were saying no. It looks like I will only be able to add one class which is the Poli Sci class still missing two units tho …having a nervous breakdown.

It’s either 60 units or wait another year, simple as that. Either tough it out or add those two classes. Why can you only add one class? Counselors normally don’t dictate what I can or cannot take. If they do, I’d just go to another one. If it’s a time conflict between classes then tough it out in bio.

Last year I ended with 59 units, becuase they they didn’t count 10 foreign language ones…result–>waited a whole year. it F-sucked! (EVEN UCR you NEED to have 60 completed units! no exceptions)
look for open classes to enroll!

Guys its looking like I am going to have to tough it out. All of the short term classes started on the 23rd of March. So many of the teachers were jerks at my CCC and did not allow me to add late despite the fact that their class was open.

im being completely honest with you. theres no way you can get less than a c in a ccc course if you TRULY work your ass off. ask for extra credit and be a sycophant in class.

@jane were you thinking what i was thinking? HAHAHA

There are classes on a quarter system that are on spring break right now that you could try to register for online classes at. I would definitely try that because there are plenty of low-demand, uc-transferrable classes that are pretty easy A’s like film studies or something like that. I don’t know how they would translate the quarter units for semester units but i’m sure a 4 qtr unit class would be enough.

SFwarrior25- i was ;)

@MantisTobaggan How would I go about adding a 4unit course on a quarter system???
Does anyone know about any transferable courses that meet after spring break that I can take in person or online??? I have looked everywhere

Just tough it out.
