u can apply next year, which I did…
just like u, i applied on Feb 2nd, and i got waitlisted.
it was highest waitlist too.
But in the end i was rejected.
Since UofM was my first and only choice,
i just decided to wait another yr to apply
and during the gap yr, i just worked in my dad’s company.
Then, this yr, i applied around mid-Dec and got accepted!!
So, wut im trying to say is dat
it’s not the end of the world, and u still hav plenty of opportunities
so don’t give up and try doing some interns to build some working experiences and learn some English too, if u think ur english is not good enough.
If u struggle wid eng now, i swear u will face a lot more trouble when u go to college.
So work and study and apply again! wish u luck!

btw, if u get waitlisted, don’t just do nothing.
do everything u can to appeal to those admissions officers, which i didn’t do last yr…

I mean even if you thought the decisions weren’t rolling… you still submitted it Feb. 2nd…and the deadline was Feb. 1st.

Hahaha it’s late!! like *** are you thinking. Rejected no doubt.

Hockey31, deadline was Feb 2. I thought at least I did not passed the deadline, but for rolling, it is almost the same as applied after deadline, is that?

First of all the deadline was Feb 1st NOT 2nd. Second of all, “rolling admissions” means that decisions are being made even before the deadline, meaning that applicants are encouraged to apply EARLY.

"but for rolling, it is almost the same as applied after deadline, is that? "

^ I have no idea what you are talking about.

Third of all, the deadline IS the deadline. This will certainly put you at a disadvantage if not guarantee rejection when your application is being considered. A few questions to think about: Why should they accept you when there are hundreds or perhaps even thousands of applicants with similar stats that applied EARLY but also get rejected? How can the admissions people know that you really are serious about attending Michigan when you submitted AFTER the deadline?

You will probably get rejected, but there still is a chance. Let the admissions office know that you didn’t find out about the deadline till a very late date. Let them know that this decision is very important for you (late applications give the feeling that the applicant was not taking the school very seriously)

"I know I worked not hard in my senior year, but do I deserve this punishment, the punishment of my entire future? "

^This is not a punishment of your entire future. If worst comes to worst, I hope you applied to other places. You can always apply transfer to Michigan. If not, take a gap semester and apply for the Winter semester (not sure if you can but ask the admissions office anyways). Apply to other schools as well, and MAKE SURE YOU APPLY EARLY!

Best of luck.

Do you live in Washtenaw County? If so, attend Washtenaw Community College; U-M loves to admit kids as transfers from WCC that do well. Otherwise, quickly apply to U of M-Dearborn. Either institution would give you a better chance at a transfer admission than other colleges. It will allow you time to improve your english skills and prove to them (with the stellar grades you will work hard to earn) that you are capable of handling Michigan’s academics.
This is a REALLY tough year for admissions at Michigan. Develop a solid back-up plan and re-strategize!

What other universities did you apply to? Why are you so hung up on U-M?

Your TOEFL score is way too low. I presume your composite score is less than 79?

GoBlue81, my toefl score is 90.
U-M is the primirary choice and the most possible college for me. Others are either not my goals or too hard to get in.

What’s more, Umichigan has the best soccer in US, which is my favorite sport.

CamphorSea, Michigan’s soccer program is not that good. I think you are confusing Football (American) with Soccer. Michigan has a great American Football tradition, but nto so much of a Soccer tradition.

Alexandre, oops, I think my mom got confused on research about michigan. Thanks for ur tips.

And back to the topic… What if I submitted the application exactly on Feb 1st? How’s the chance?

Michigan reviews applications on a rolling basis after November 1. The later you apply after that date, the worse your chances.

What did you do with your time during the gap year?
