I am a Chinese immigrant that have lived in US for one and a half year. Only my senior year of high school is in US(2007~2008), and now I am having a gap year.

Today is my 1st time to know Michigan's rolling policy!!!!!!!! From CC!!!Today
I submitted my app on Feb 2nd... really the last minute.

Here is my status. Please consider whether I can shine in admission office because of my really strong math or I will be mediocre because of not really good English , or being rejected due to applying to late.

Here are my status:

SAT: 2030 ( CR 580, Math 800, WR 650) ( On math section, I scored 3 times 800 , once 790 on JAN 2009)

former SAT

I am Oahu( Hawaiian island) Mathematics League Top 10 high scorer.

other ECs: Soccer team( 4 years), captain( in China)

4*100mBronze medal
etc.

Do you think I have CHANCE?!!!!!!!!!

I am really driven crazy now!

Please give me some advices!

Anyone who comes in this post plz just type some words…

I realize my words sound pompous…but yesterday I was really hysterical.

What can I do now for Michigan?..I want to cry now…

… Applying really late?

yes…Almost the last few hours

Sorry to say, but your chances are slim to none.

-_-!

How is the chance if I submitted my app earlier…

yeah, there is virtually no chance of admission.

If you had applied in early/mid October, then you would have had a decent chance.

-!

The main reason is late?

HARRR, at that time I was struggling with my SAT… you know, my poor English, and I completely didn’t know Michigan is rolling…

God, are you kidding me? I spent an entire gap year in fighting for college, now I am just beaten down by all these nonsense. Teacher forgot my Rec, I didn’t know rolling, TOEFL’s underestimation…

I know I worked not hard in my senior year, but do I deserve this punishment, the punishment of my entire future?

it’s not your entire future. you can apply next year. that will give you time to develop your english skills and possibly retake the SAT.
you can always go to another school and transfer.
anyway… michigan has always been an apply early school.

your stats are not good enough to be accepted this late. i believe you would need at least a 2300+/3.95+ to be able to admitted this late.

Can I apply another “next year”? I have had a gap year already. If I postpone another year, how college will consider me? Even if I get 2400 on SAT?

I mean I will have no school, no GPA, no ECs

i’m not sure. call them and ask.

I wouldn’t have took a gap year at all, but since your from a different country/ learning english they may understand.

Thanks, Coolbrezze~

like blackpen said, u should call the admssions office. I thought that the deadline for regular decision was feb 1st… so i’m not even sure they would consider your application. A good thing to do is to wait a year, improve your english, score higher on your SAT, and maybe even try taking the ACT. Or, u could enroll in a community college, get good grades, do the previously stated things, and then transfer. I hope everything turns out right.

is this the only place you’ve applied to? trouble, mate.

Yeah, you got the raw end of the deal. If you applied earlier you would have a good shot at getting in but applying that late at Michigan leaves you basically with a less than 1 percent chance of getting in. However, now you might want to look at a community college for a year if Michigan was the only school you applied to, and then apply for Michigan or another school again next year.
