POLL: What was your gpa last year?

Over all current 3.94 weighted 4.2
Last year 4.0
GPA SCALE - No idea.

Live for today, plan for tomorrow.

honestly I think the UW scale work best because each school uses different W scales. Making other colleges and people from other schools a little lost.

@Teaspoons
Ha, I had that in elementary school. In fact, I currently have a “conduct grade” that uses the same scale! All the teachers are too lazy to change that grade, so everyone gets "S"s. Luckily, it doesn’t count for GPA.

At my high school an A in a regular class counted as a 4 and an A in an AP class counted as a 5. A student who got an A- or an A+ would still get a 4 for the class, so pluses and minuses didn’t mean much except for when colleges looked at the transcript.

My UW GPA was a 3.1 and my weighted was a 3.45
Yea I was lazy.

@Descuff I hate the unweighted scale, but what I hate even more is that you’re completely right; it’s the most fair system because schools weight classes differently. I just wish there was a national GPA system… that way my honors/AP courses would help me out, instead of hurting my GPA.

3.8 uw
4.5 w

Do colleges acutally look closely at your transript grades? I do have a 4.0 unweighted GPA, but thats because I aced my exams and brought 2 or three b’s to A’s. Every semester in AP Human geography I got a 92% (a B), but in the end I got an A… next year I’ll be less careless about my quarter grades but I figured colleges only looked at GPAs (weighted/unweighted), and course rigor (amount of APs, or if you took ‘easy’ classes). :\ I hope a few b’s wont botch my chances at colleges like Stanford or Princeton (man that sounds so weird. I hope a B wont ruin my chances for getting into college… haha) .

Indeed.

I can’t even fill out my Common App because I don’t know what my class weighting is in relation to what the Common App is asking for.

My school has a pretty standard scale.

A in a regular class = 4 points
A in an honors class = 4.5 points
A in an AP class = 6 points

There are some scales I’ve seen on CC and on this thread that just look like a nightmare.

Scale:
4.0 Regular
5.0 Honors/APs

My GPA (freshman year)
4.0 UW
4.7 W

Scale:
A - Regular = 4.0
A - Honors = 4.5
A - AP = 5.0

My GPA (Sophomore year):
4.0 UW
4.4 W

UW 3.4
W 3.8
Ha fmllll. Time to fix it. Yay jr year…

…how do you get a B in gym??

4.0 they don’t put weighted GPA’s on our report cards. My weighting system only gives you a five if you get an A in an AP class. Honors an A is still a 4.

3.4 uw, 4.13 w
5 pts for AP/Honors (i took 3 honors, 3 APs)
4.0 scale

The scale at my school.

IB and AP: 5.5
PreAP/IS/Dual Credit: 5.0
Advanced Courses/Honors/Global High: 4.5
Regular: 4.0
Modified: 3.0

UW=3.5
W=4.2/5.0

3.8 uw

I was an idjit during frosh and soph.

3.45 uw gpa freshman year. I had never gotten below a 3.85 before last year so this grade is really depressing.

Scale:
A:4
B:3
C:2
D:1
F:0

Broke past the 3.8 barrier twice for the first time finally to get all A’s, hopefully i can keep it Junior year!
