@hawkwoman Are you referring to my previous question on interviews? Thank you so much for your answer but I got an email saying that there are no available alumni in my area about two weeks ago, so no worries.
Thank you anyways!

Hey guys! I’m super late to the discovery of this thread but have been scouring the internet in search of info on the Pomona ED application process for weeks. My most nagging questions are the following:
Does anyone have any info on when these results might come out? The waiting is driving me insane.
How much did you all write for your supplements and what prompts did you use? I decided on the disagreement topic and cut mine down to roughly 700 words, so I’m basically just looking for someone to tell me that I didn’t make a horrible choice.
Did any of you submit visual arts or theatre supplements? Given how mysterious the requirements were, I’d love to know what the artist’s statements and portfolios of other applicants looked like.
Best of luck to all of you! GO POTENTIAL SAGEHENS!
Also worth asking: did anyone else have a super unconventional interview? My representative and I spent maybe 15 minutes discussing my experiences and application and roughly 45 considering the intricacies of free speech on college campuses and the history of music as a medium for expression and social revolution. Is that bad? What’s going on? Help? Go Sagehens?
@mozzarellaman That’s good, not bad. You apparently held your own in an interesting conversation with an adult, which many high school students can’t do.
@MozzarellaMan why do u think it’s bad? that’s good!! my interviewer and I also talked more about other non-school related topics. if you think you had a decent conversation going, it can only help you, not hurt you.
@MozzarellaMan
I did the disagreement one as well. I started with a ton of words, but tried to be as concise as I could and cut it down to I think 465 words. I also did submit a music supplement for jazz saxophone. Basically 4 songs that I played the melody then improvised, and then also had to submit a musical resume.
I chose the location essay and mine was under 800 words. And yea, I did submit a visual arts supplement! I really didn’t have any idea what they were looking for in the statement - I just really hope mine suffices.
@MozzarellaMan Welcome to the thread, where we can commiserate together on how excruciating the waiting is.
For your first three questions, if you read through the previous threads, some of us have answered this question already. (or at least tried to for the speculation of decision’s date).
I chose the superpower question and I didn’t look at the word count but it is about a page. No supplements.
Chirp Chirp all wannabe Sagehens. We’re rooting for you. If you get deferred, don’t despair. Update your app and keep dreaming…it can happen!
Wasnt the word limit like 400-600 for Common App Pomona Supplementals where you had to choose a topic? I personally did the Coalition essays for Pomona which had no word limit at all but I kept both essays around the 650~ words mark since I didn’t want to overbear them with 2 long essays.
Pomona just released their common data set for last year. ED acceptance rate stayed the same (19.3% vs. last year’s 19.4%), female acceptance rate went down slightly (7.6 --> 7.2%) and male acceptance rate also went down (12.4 --> 10.2%)
@IllIlllIIllllll Hey The common app supplemental has a suggested length for the essay (400-600) but won’t cut you off if you go over. Personally, mine is 750 words.
@gnowr35 I was at the director’s chat last week. The admission officers said THIS YEAR’s number of ED applicants remained around the same as last year, so I would expect the same rate of admission (19%). Thanks for the data and pray pray prayyyyy!!!
Oh wow! What else did they say at the directors chat? I missed it!
I may be completely delusional, but does the release of statistics mean that decisions are just about ready?
@NebbyBag @gnowr35 That’s so exciting! I am basically living off the crumbs of info now. Please tell us what else you’ve heard!
@MozzarellaMan Gnowr35 meant the common data set for the incoming class of 2021, I am pretty sure. They don’t release common data sets until all decisions are done and the students have already enrolled. So, no, it is not ED data for us.
As the time approaches for Pomona to usually start requesting people’s quarter grades, can people please update if you have received a request or not? It shouldn’t indicate anything definitive about the decision but I am hoping to gather data for the next ED class.
@MozzarellaMan If you are talking about the newly released common data set, that was last years. If you are talking about the number of ED applicants this year, they should have that information before they make any acceptance decisions. So yeah…doesn’t say much.
@gnowr35 Happy to tell more! (I wanted to make a post but was too busy last week) So here is some information I considered helpful for us ED peeps
Hi guys! I’m really late here but @NebbyBag thanks so much for the info!
@Quiches I haven’t gotten a quarter grade request but they requested my IB predicted grades about a week ago. I’m at an international school and I don’t think we get new grades until the end of December after our mock exams.
@NebbyBag Did they mention anything about extracurriculars?
(Or in general any useful tips for who theyre looking for)
