Possibility of rejection after getting finalist yesterday?

So in the other thread, someone said that they had called CCF and they said that the list posted was a mistake and they are still in the process of finalizing finalists.

If it said we were a finalist yesterday, it is possible that we might actually get rejected next week? anyone want to speculate on the probability of this (I'm hoping that this is low and that they are simply just adding more finalists up there)? I'm kinda freaked out now! Any thoughts?

erm, I’d say HIGHLY improbable. Think about it…why would they post a list of people that they definitely DON’T want to be finalists, say “just keeding, hehehee, we tricked you!” then proceed to replace said people with a whole new batch of ACTUAL finalists? Come on now.

Avoid the paranoia! It’s really okay! I’m sure we’re all legit finalists. If anything, this just gives more hope for a few days to those who aren’t on the list.

The EXACT same thing happened last year and Coca Cola said it was a mistake. If you were on the finalist list, I would be certain you are a finalist. Congrats to those that are!

However, I did get a glimpse at the list when it was up and looked at my own state… it appeared that there were significantly less finalists this year. Perhaps not all finalists were listed. I don’t want to throw out false hope, but this may very well be the case.

well, I checked Illinois and the number of finalists more than doubled from last year

Yeah, its probable that those were the final lists. States probably see major fluctuations from year to year.

Does anyone know about WISCONSIN??

I’m just starting to research scholarship possibilities for daughter (high school junior). Can anyone give me a ballpark idea of the stats of winners of this scholarship? Daughter has 4.2 GPA (3.9 unweighted), 99 pctile PSATs, hasn’t yet taken ACTs. Thanks for any info!

momofsongbird, your D’s stas are definitely up to par for the Coca-cola scholarship. The thing is, the Coca-cola scholarship is not just about academics and stats - it is more based on the impact a student has on his/her community and how the student has used available resources and opportunities to make a difference.

That’s helpful. Thanks! I need to do more research on the many scholarships available…it’s a little daunting at first because there are so many and in widely divergent areas. My daughter’s top strengths are in academics and music (vocal performance). I guess I should start there.
