Possibility of U. of Michigan Admissions Rescinded

These were my second semester grades:
AP Physics: A-
AP Calc: A-
AP Chem: A-
AP Lit: D+
AP Macroecon: C+

I received the letter asking me for an explanation for the decline in my second semester grades. I really don’t have a good explanation, just a case of senioritis. I scored a 5 on both the AP lit and macro exams, my two bad grades. Do you think UofM will rescind my Admissions?

Will add to this later when I am back.

I’ve read that link, I’m just wondering how common it is to have your admissions rescinded once you’re put up for review.

This is pure speculation on my part, but I believe your admission won’t be rescinded. I’d be honest and say that you experienced a case of senioritis, but recovered to achieve 5’s in topics on the AP exams. Apologize for your transgression and ask that UM not rescind your admission.

So you are one of a few hundred students getting the rescind review letters. I would take it seriously. The “d” is the issue. You getting a 5 on the AP test is your saving grace. Michigan takes admissions seriously since there are still kids on the wait list that want your spot.

First don’t post anything on social media and I wouldn’t tell people about this. I assume you told your parents.

Let Michigan know this is not who you are and this was a lapse of judgement and that this is a wakeup call. This will make you strive harder once at Michigan. Let them know how sorry you are that this happened. That you will learn from this mistake. You are a better person then this. (in your own words)

Maybe call the learning center and find out what they offer and put that in your letter. That after calling the learning center you learned about the different resources available to you if you should ever need them. Also there is a mentorship program that you can research since having someone helping to keep you on track the first semester /year might be a good idea.

Your regional Michigan person might be able to help you or a principal at school.

Once this is settled I think you should let your school know. Your school builds relationships with these universities in hopes that they will take their students. . This can affect them also.

Get this done and email sent tomorrow or follow if they sent any instructions in the letter.

Again, you made a mistake and let them know you learned from it. End the letter with something like. " I look forward to your favorable decision and starting my collegiate career as a Wolverine"

Remember, it’s a privilege to go to Michigan not a right.

Good luck.
