Hi, I was accepted to Umich, and senior year I had a 65 (D) in AP Psychology and a 76 in Drama. Now, these are a result of personal problems, which I will explain to them, but both these teachers in Drama and AP Psychology agreed to write a letter to Michigan explaining that they don’t think this is a reflection of my academic performance, but rather a result of inflexible school policies. Would these letters, and my explanation save me from getting rescinded ? There is a lot I can’t explain, but it is definitely not a case of senioritis.
Unfortunately, no one here is going to be able to give you an answer that means anything. The general wisdom is to avoid Ds,Fs, and felonies. I would guess that admissions is not eager to rescind your acceptance since they know the consequence of that. You are going to have to talk to the people at Michigan and hope for the best.
Generally you have to fail (F) multiple classes before they’ll rescind. You’ll need to contact them though to be sure.
You will have to work for it, but I seriously doubt they will if your teachers send them a letter
Generally, any C’s and below need to be explained. If your teachers are willing to send a letter explaining the circumstances, that can only help. However, there is really no guarantee. I would suggest that you also email (not call) the admissions office to describe the situation. Hopefully, their response (which you are going to want documented in writing) will tell you your fate.
