I'm thinking about moving out to an apartment next semester and I was just wondering if there is any way I could cancel my on campus housing contract for next semester and pay the fee. I already applied for a room change back when school started and have yet received any word from Cornell housing. Thanks.

it depends on where you live. i know for west campus the deadline is like nov. 19th or something. (they gave us a notice in our mailbox).

if you applied for a room change and haven’t heard back, check with the housing office. def. need to follow up on that. it may be that the paperwork was lost/never filed if it’s been since august.

anyways: im sure it’s possible to cancel for spring, but you will need to get on it asap. the deadline may have already passed or is certainly coming up soon.

because you arent 100% sure about an apt, and you havent signed yet, i would wait to remove yourself. freshman year, even though i went through recruitment, i still kept my name in the lottery just in case something happened and i didnt get into a house. just do that: get a time slot, and if you happen to get an apt, then just dont pick a room during your slot.
