Finished MC in 30 minutes, had a brain explosion during the synthesis (even though I've practiced >.<), and did okay for the 2nd and 3rd... Somewhat easy exam, but not sure how they're going to grade the synthesis.

I'm pretty confident that I'll get a five.

My synthesis essay and the third one (argumentative) were both pretty good. I only had about 25 minutes to write the rhetorical analysis, but I hit on two main points at least, and it was well-written, so I still see that as being at least a five out of nine.

I know I did very well on multiple choice, so not acing one essay probably isn't a big deal.

the MC was somewhat easier than some of the practice tests we took in class. THe first passage was a hard one to understand lol. The FR was pretty straightforward and simple in my opinion. Considering my teacher didnt teach us much, i think i did alright

I really liked the first passage. I thought that the third was the hardest out of all of them, or at least that the questions for that one were the most difficult/ambiguous.

I thought the CRQs were all pretty easy to understand. In fact, I highly doubt that I even got one wrong. Of course, this is probably due to my hugely inflated ego. :(

Yeah, I personally don't find CRQ's to be that hard, but I know that a lot of people have problems with them.

The test was SOOO much easier than I thought it would be. The first passage was BORING. I liked the 2nd passage. I think I did really well on my FRE's. I better get a 4 or a 5.

sheesh, I was confident about getting a 4 or 5, but now that I see everybody else has the same opinion about the test as me, I don't know anymore :(

All the MC passages I thought were easy except the first one.

Synthesis was incredible, I couldn't believe they gave us so easy a prompt.
So I did really great on that one, probably an 8 or 9 (4 pages), but then my rhetorical essay got shot all to hell.
By the time I got to the argumentative, I was just trying to write something. I made some nice points but only had one example, which is going to cost me.

So 40-43 raw MC, 8-9 on synth, 3-4 on analysis, and 5-6 on argumentative.
Probably a 4.

MC: died on last passage because of time, probably missed a few here and there as well..i'm guessing 10 wrong (didn't skip any)
Synthesis: spent 50 minutes on it..good topic though..7?
Style Analysis: mediocre..6?
argumentative: oh dear lord...5?

Does anyone know the general formula to calculate your score?

I saved the rhetorical analysis for last. I thought it would be hard, but it wasn't bad. My argumentative essay was pretty short because I could not think of many examples. It probably wont be too high because I think I contradicted myself in the middle.

m/c was ok.... i skipped like 10-ish?
first essay was good
second essay idk. maybe i misinterpreted
third essay i was blank on examples so i wrote w/e lol
i still want a 3....

I don't think the mc was too bad; the common theme seemed to be easy passages, some easy questions, and some tricky questions, though the first one was hard at first glance. For the essays, I wrote a TON, way more than I usually write (on the fifth page for the first one, the fourth pages for the last two). I used a personal example for the argumentative one, which I normally don't do but I think it was appropriate. Oh, and I was reaaalllly sarcastic in my essays, but hopefully I'll make them laugh. I did the same thing for World History and got a 4, so we'll see.

Just curious, how do you compute the raw score for the AP Lang exam? What is the scoring formula/equation or whatnot? I mean like when you want to know how many points it is out of 180.

lol only 5.4 % got a 5 last year :o

I learn so much from the College Board's tests. I love the reading passages; they're always so interesting.

But anyway, I agree with those who said the test was easy. It was pretty basic. I BS'd the argumentative essay, though...I wildly invented a personal experience and kept making inaccurate references to Freakonomics.

It's out of 150...67.5 points from MC, 82.5 from FRQ....

MC raw score x 67.5/(number of questions, 53 in this case) = scaled MC
FRQ (max of 27 on all three essays) x 3.055 = scaled FRQ

scaled MC + scaled FRQ = composite score

5: 112+ (probably more like 106+ since this test had 53 questions for MC)
4: 94+ I think
3: 74+

anything below that I'm too lazy to look up lol

I liked the first passage because most questions were based on the gist of the argument.

Synthesis essay was so easy. Analysis was easy, I enjoyed that passage. I owned the argumentative with good examples.

MC was a gift from God. Pretty sure I got a 5. This exam made me feel so much better, especially after my complete failure on AP Chem.

NOW IT'S TIME TO PARTY!

expecting a 3 or 4...can't really say because I haven't done anything English related since I had the class last semester.

^ i feel exactly the same as spiffystars!
