Post Your Winter 2009 Schedule!

i'm thinking of
chem 14b
math3b
ge cluster 25b
^those classes for sure.
and possible either the history of rock or art of listening
any advice or preferences?

advice?

music history 5 (rock and roll) and music history 15 (art of listening) would be great...

...if they were being offered.

are you serious? neither are being offered. oh jeez any other fairly easy ge's that are being offered in comparison?

someone on my floor says history of r and r isnt easy anymore.

of course i'm serious, did you even bother to look up the winter schedule?

and while you're doing that, look at the GE search function, then compare that to the numerous "easy GE" threads floating around CC.

ugh. I'm so angry there's only ONE chem 14a lect. it's like.. maybe we can't make it at 3:00-3:50's on fridays.. wth. WTH. maybe they'll add more.. :/

Then don't go home!

Two of my planned classes conflict (discussion vs. lecture) so I think I'll just take them both. Maybe missing one hour of lecture won't hurt me at all. I can get the notes from a classmate, after all.

Liyana,

Where is mme-lin? I miss her dearly. :(
NOT

she's right here... in my room ;)

I'm thinking about:
Math 32B
Math 33A
Physics 1A
CS 31

would that be too much for me to handle?

my EE friend says that's a manageable load.
however, rohr is apparently terrible for CS31. corbin (she had him for 1B) was really good but a ridiculous amount of work. she also says 32B is significantly harder than 33A, but doesn't know any of the profs teaching them next quarter.

wow thats a pretty big load if corbin is teaching 1A, corbin is great but you have to work hard to pass that class... rohr is the only one teaching cs 31 and most of my friends hate him especially comparing to smallberg... i have to take cs 31 too this quarter or i'll be way way behind schedule for my major... im thinking 12 unit quarter with cs 31, civil eng 108 and mechE103 or materialE 104... anyone know anything about the work load for CEE 15?

oh lord. looks like i'll have class 9-5:30 every day, with 1 hr breaks in between each class next quarter

for those in the econ dept, i recommend taking econ 183 w/ boustan and econ m143a with kahn for winter 2009. very good and much needed departure from the usual travesty of courses taught by swanson, hou, thompson, mcdevitt, brown (i single them out because collectively, they seem to teach 70% of the classes in the dept, ugh).

What a bummer...schedule conflicts for both of them :( unless...has anyone had mgmt. 122 with saouma? =] Or recommend any other mgmt. classes that don't require 120B? heheh.

I'm thinking...

Hist 113A Ancient Greek History w/ Phillips (had him for 1A and actually liked his style of lecturing... but I've heard that for upper divs he's kind of a harsh grader... anyone here taken him for an upper div?)
Hist 139A Civil War/Reconstruction w/ Waugh
Astro 3 w/ Hauser (the final is on Friday which blows, but after that class I will be DONE with science GEs)
A lower div poli sci class so I can see if I want to do a poli sci minor... any suggestions? (I think I already have credit for Poli Sci 40 from AP U.S. Govt. in high school)

you don't get credit for poli sci 40. UCLA Undergrad Admissions: AP Credit - College of Letters and Science

Raychul--I'm doing a poli sci minor as well, the only thing is for the five upper divs you can only enroll second pass if you're in the minor. Even with senior standing I don't think I can get into them.

Oh and I've had Phillips before for 113B, he's a very good, very thorough lecturer with the right amount of dry wit thrown in to keep things fun. I don't think he grades harshly, (However, I took a WII on Greek History so I was familiar with most of the material beforehand).

i'm looking at

LS4
CHEM 171
and a GE?

What's the point of going up to 19 units with a fiat lux?

The only thing I've heard about is that he's extremely pedantic, dry, and anal-retentive about dates. In any case, I think, you can safely default with Britannica Academic edition online (use the proxy server on Bruin OnLine Home Page or UCLAWLAN to access it) to get background information and the gamut of Greek (or any other region's) history. The rest of the sources are just for citation. Had I known this earlier, Byzantine History (116B) would have been more enjoyable. Alas, I fail in that respect.

My schedule:
French 3 and maybe Spanish 1 (or whatever level I managed to squeeze into)
History Lower-Division
Physical Sciences with Lab GE
Two upper division history courses whose course titles are pending as for now... dependent on whether or not I get the appropriate sections. My decision for it is mostly arbitrary.

hey guys. i'm a first time poster and am a pre-psychology freshman
how does this schedule look?
ge cluster M1B
german 59
physics 10
philosophy 7

any suggestions would be appreciated!
