Hello All,

Does the campus postal service allow for box pick up and mailing out (shipping)? Thinking I will let my son take 2 big suitcases with him but all other "extra" things could be shipped to him and/or shipped back home. Is this doable from campus? Would he have to leave campus to go to the local area post office to pick up shipped boxes or to mail them back home?

Thanks!

The campus mail center is in Todd Union between the Frat Quad and Strong Auditorium. It’s where the student mail boxes are located. The mail service will accept (sign for) packages and hold them until the student picks them up. (The student will get an email when s/he has a pkg. There will be a reference number in the email which he will need to bring with in order to claim his pkg. Also he will have to show his ID–to prevent other people from claiming his pkgs.)

The mail center also has shipping service for USPS, UPS and Fed Ex.

During freshman move-in, there will be large carts available at Todd Union to help students schlepp their packages across campus. (But there will also be a HUGE line at the post office for those carts since lots of people ship boxes to campus ahead of move in.)

Since we live far from campus and were flying cross-country, D2 did exactly as your planning–shipped most of her stuff to campus about 7-10 days ahead of freshman move in and just carried critical stuff (musical instrument, computer, small amount of clothing) with her on the plane. Worked just dandy.
