Hello everyone,
I have a question concerning pre-high school classes. I took Algebra 1 and 9th grade Language Arts in 8th grade. They are on my HS transcript but apparently MS grades don’t count into the overall HS GPA. Do they still technically count the classes? So, instead of the typical 4 years of language arts, would I have 5 because I took 9th grade LA in 8th grade? I’m technically a year ahead in both math and language arts. My HS math sequence is (starting from 9th grade), Geometry>Algebra 2>Precalculus>AP Calculus (I’m going into engineering). My Language Arts sequence starting from 9th grade is 10th grade LA>11th grade LA>12th grade LA>AP Literature and Composition. Please let me know, I’m curious
It depends on the individual school district’s policy. In my school, taking high school math in eighth grade counts toward your official high school GPA and gives credit. At your school they may only give placement. You should ask a guidance councilor at your school.
