Anyone do this? or will do the program?

POST is an amazing program! I participated in it last year and met most of my very good friends there. It's a great way to get introducted to the school and to the area, and you get to meet not only lots of freshmen (which is pretty awesome during orientation week, when you already know 50+ people and you seem popular when you keep passing them everywhere), but you meet a lot of very interesting upperclassmen. I can say this with confidence because I'm a leader next year (and I'll get to meet you if you do it!) and a lot of the junior/senior leaders are very cool and funny people. I can only speak for POST, but I know WR has some kind of bonding, too. POST, for me, was the best decision I made (after deciding to come to Cornell) because of the great experiences I have. Please please please please consider doing it! You definitely won't regret it! (any questions, just leave them and I can respond to them)

I haven't heard much about it, can you explain?

POST is basically a 5 day experience before move-in day (this year, it will run Sunday August 10- Friday morning, August 18, the day you guys move-in). You arrive, do many ice-breakers/intro activities, then have dinner with professors from your school/field of study. You are split into one of 7 teams (of 5-10 students) and every day, your team goes to a different site and performs community service. Some days you will do some manual labor (painting, weeding); other days you will do light office work or other indoor work(for the Family Reading Partnership, I folded paper books for their Book Festival) or work in the soup kitchen downtown. One team even got to go to the Buddhist Monastery and help out there. Every team gets 4 great days of doing something totally different- it's a lot of fun, and as I said, really helps you learn about the area. At night, we do things together as a program- bowling, scavenger hunt around the commons, dinner downtown (where you learn about the activities on campus), a free night with your team, and an 'end of POST' barbeque with pictures and great food. And, of course, there's lots of food and staying up late during the week! It's an amazing experience- one of the best I've had at Cornell.

Hey, I know this is unrelated, but I need some quick advice. I applied RD (to Cornell), and I haven't been called for an interview yet. It turns out, they hadn't recieved my fee waiver info for the longest time, so I called them to update. So in all that time, my application was considered incomplete. I know a friend of mine from school who applied and he was interviewed over the phone. Should I call Cornell Admissions and see if they can still possibly procure an interview for me, or should I not bother (considering how very little time I have left). Thanks in advance for your advice!

I suppose you could call and see what they say, but keep in mind that Admissions is still very busy right now with acceptance/decline letters and may not be able to get back to you. I'd say it's worth a try.

Thanks. Guess I'll give it a try. Good luck to everyone!

will we get this info in the mail?

Yes, you should hear more about it within a booklet coming out shortly (I don't know when)- but please please please come! :)
