@DramaLove2020…thank you!!
how many auditions can on expect to do n a day at unifides. And are those only booked through the schools after you accept their offer to audition? Feeling a little lost on the scheduling
end of things
I have the same question as @excitedformygirl. Some schools have asked us to book a 15 min time slot on signup.com, while others are suggesting to allot half a day for just that college.
@excitedformygirl Yes. They are scheduled through each individual school. For those that don’t require pre-screens, follow their application/audition process listed on their website/getacceptd. For the ones that require pre-screens, yes, you must wait to secure an audition spot after they pass the student through and invite the student to audition. Most people feel comfortable doing two auditions a day, some more or less. It really all depends on your student and what feels comfortable for them, and what you are able to figure out schedule-wise.
Has anyone heard from Oklahoma?
Re scheduling auditions. Lesson learned from last year. Not every auditioning school is at the same hotel. We had Michigan’s audition followed by an audition for Missouri State. Michigan makes the auditioner sit until after the auditioner behind them is done in case they want to see something else. Missouri State was at a different hotel. We were a half hour late for Missouri State ( and they were wonderful about it) My DS was practically in tears and very frazzled
This is so crazy trying to schedule it all. She has been invited to seven so far and all yes … we are trying to make it all fit but there are only so many weekends in January and February. We chose to do most on campus but there are a few we are yet to hear from and it is unnerving booking out every weekend. But thank you all that advice was very helpful. I guess we just wait and see how the pieces all fit together. We will probably need to do NY and Chicago Unifieds. I think the biggest challenge will be keeping them all healthy with all this travel and stress
thank you that was very helpful!
Heads up on a timeline for anyone who submitted later for UMICH. My D submitted 10/2 and heard back via email today.
@gatrobridget that must have been soooo stressful!
So from what I have heard in NYC its all in Pearl studios, is Chicago not all in one place? How many different hotels are involved? I feel so green I have no idea what we’re doing LOL But I am sure w will figure it all out! Just trying to figure out which schools to fly to and which to do at unifieds. Looks like we will do NY and Chicago
@excitedformygirl even in NYC all are not at pearl, u have to look up each school, some at Ripley, Texas state in chelsea, i think JMU is elsewhere etc…all are walking or a subway ride away but not ALL in one place, you really have to look on each school website…i think similar in Chicago while MOST at palmer house others are in diff locs. nearby.
@excitedformygirl I am not positive how it is this year, but if it has been like previous years there were a handful off campus. Syracuse, NYU, Juilliard, Millikin, and Pace were all off campus for us.
@excitedformygirl OMG. Not off campus lol. I meant they weren’t at the Palmer House. Nothing takes very long to get to in Chicago tho and even w those being in different locations we still fit in 11 auditions. It’s doable.
For Chicago there are many colleges that audition at the Palmer House. Two other places that I know for sure there will be auditions at are the Hyatt Regency Chicago and the Hyatt Centric. Maybe someone else can chime in if there are other places.
@excitedformygirl… @NYYFanNowMTdad is spot on… even in NYC not all are in the same location. As he mentioned, JMU is one that is elsewhere… at the Growing Studio on W38.
Allow plenty of time for building security and elevator lines - in our experience for Pearl and Ripley in NYC - 15-20 mins at least, it gets insane with all the people in one off campus location.
Does it make a difference auditioning on campus or at unifieds? Trying to understand the process…a local friend said she thought you should go to your top five on campus if possible. And what is the max you should attempt to do in a day at Unifieds. For CCM it appears that they want you the entire day. CCM is a top choice for her but there is no on-campus date she can make due to conflicts, she is stressing about it.
Some schools state that they prefer on-campus auditions (you have to read the information on each school’s website) and others say it doesn’t make a difference.
As an example - for Chicago, one of the days we booked three of the 10 - 15 minute auditions that were in the same hotel in the morning and then after lunch we booked the half-day audition. You need to determine what will work though for your D as far as how much time she wants inbetween those auditions.
We tried to build in time as @NYDreammom suggested to allow the audition to complete and get to the next spot. This will of course mean we have to find those audition rooms ahead of time so we can map out where we need to go that day.
@NYDreammom @Runmama Thank you so much, that was very helpful. We scheduled 7 so far with only one at unifieds I guess we just sit tight and wait for responses now. Unfortunately, we didn’t get things in until the End of October so I think the rest will be a long wait.
