Pre-Screen Results list for class of 2024

@NYYFanNowMTdad, thanks! The timing and wording of the video she received yesterday from Texas was a little confusing. I think had she received it any other day we would have considered it the typical recruiting/informational communication. and not given it another thought. Mine submitted around the same time as yours. Best of luck to your daughter!

Our list is short because my son is only applying to schools that offer tuition exchange. (My husband works at Pitt) The exchange isn’t a guarantee so we are really hoping we get at least one magical yes from this short list!!

Baldwin Wallace audition 11/16
Marymount Manhattan audition 1/18
University of the Arts audition 1/25
Point Park audition 1/11
Pace audition 1/19
Shenandoah
Syracuse
Rider
Elon

We were late to the party and just submitted 5 prescreens on Friday night
My son got his first passes yesterday afternoon
Pace and Point Park

We are waiting to hear from
Elon (they state Jan 22 for replies!)
Syracuse
Shenandoah

We are still waiting for Rider to send us the link to submit his prescreen!

Is anyone auditioning on 11/16 at BW?

Marymount did not require a prescreen. I’m confused. We set our audition up after applying academically. Can you clarify if you sent in a prescreen?

D is auditioning for Marymount in Jan. No prescreen. They require you reserve the whole day (obnoxious as it’s during NYC Unifieds - but we’ll be there).

Marymount Manhattan requires a prescreen if you want to attend their regional audition in San Francisco; this year the auditions are on 1/6/20 and 1/7/20. Video prescreen due by 12/6/19.

D passed U Mich today…in case anyone else is waiting to hear.

@WDWMom, did you have all recommendations in before you got an answer? We have one recommendation outstanding (and one already sent), so I’m guessing we won’t hear anything until that last one is in.

Lots of previous discussion on here about: CCM… just to add to the information, my daughter got a pass today. She submitted her prescreens a couple weeks ago. They don’t send a “you passed” message, just an email confirmation that a your audition has been scheduled with a specific time and date. I did call to confirm and they said that if you get the message with the date and time of your confirmed audition that that means you passed the pre-screen.

@ElizaDoolittle - do you mean recommendations for the school or the pre-screen? I am sorry, I do not remember what all we had to submit where for that audition. I will try to check if I know what recommendations you are asking about.

@ElizaDoolittle we had everything checked off on the list for Umich before my D received an answer on prescreens. I’m not sure if they were waiting on it all, but I would guess so.

@ElizaDoolittle - Just checked. We have had everything complete for UMich for awhile. It doesn’t give me much clarity into the app, it just says everything is complete, but I think it has said that for 6 weeks or so.

@WDWMom did you check the SMTD portal? That has separate info on the prescreen and recommendations there - they want the recommendations sent directly to them on there (even if you sent them via the academic application). I think if you search google for SMTD artistic profile or something like that it should come up. It is very hard to keep track of it all!

I was referring to the artistic recommendations, but I think you answered my question either way. Thanks!

@ElizaDoolittle We got a decision (no) today from UM and the recommendation wasn’t in yet…

Thanks for letting me know, but I’m sorry the news wasn’t better for you. :frowning:

Hi! I’m late to this party because I kept telling myself that one more website to check obsessively every day was not something I needed in my life! But here I am and honestly, I’m just so thankful to everyone who has been posting because I’m learning a lot and really glad I’m not the only one who feels like this whole process is a lot to keep straight.

We submitted pre-screens to 17 schools and results are trickling in so far, but I can’t tell whether we’ve done everything that’s required on our end. Some schools seem to want transcripts and recommendations sent to two separate places, it seems. Any tips on making sure I’m not missing anything?

@Dance3Looks3 Your D(or S) may be getting emails to sign up for upcoming webinars or live web chats with the admissions department. If you see those, I highly recommend attending. It is a good opportunity to have an admissions staff member available to answer your questions. You can also call admission directly if their directions are not clear. So far I have had a positive experience calling them. Email… not so much. And as long as you are not asking something specific about your child’s application, they will answer. Good Luck and Hang in there. We can do this!!!

Going to be a LONG winter!

IF anyone has any insight to any of these programs ( I know the big ones, I mean the smaller ones), please share! Any and all help needed!

Thought this might help with the raw emotions happening daily (at least around here). After receiving a few nice passes, D got a “no” from CMU and Pace. She’s taking it badly, wouldn’t listen to me,e tc. So I told her to speak to her singing coach and her program director (performing arts HS) as she’s now convinced she can’t sing (ridiculous). They were both very helpful so use this if it applies:

  1. Singing Coach - "CMU is a lottery. No one gets in. It's like not getting in to Harvard with a 4.0 and 1600. happens all the time. It's a lottery. You're an awesome singer with unusual talent..."
  2. HS Director (was a casting director on Broadway prior) - "Do you know how many actors there are on Braodway that didn't go to CMU or NYU or Juliard orX?....ALMOST ALL OF THEM. And guess what, they still win Tonies, have great careers, live their dream. Who cares about CMU!"

Although he’s not normally that supportive, I like his comments. Statistically, most performers don’t go to any one school and many don’t go to a school at all.

Seperate the Dream School form the Dream!

@rickle1 I am so sorry to hear that. We know of 4 females who are great singers and extremely talented that did not pass Pace. They were all similar singing types so I suspect they were not the type they were looking for. Our dance teacher who has connections there says that they are looking for edgy types which none of them were either. You can be great but if you don’t fit what they are looking for they will pass on you. She should not take it personally although I know that is easier said then done. Hang in there! It is going to be a wild ride…
