@theatrekidmom Just a word of general caution that things CAN fall through the cracks on the part of schools notifying on results/acceptances so if a lot of time has passed and if you’ve heard nothing feel free to inquire with the school. Happened to my D last year where Montclair “forgot” to notify her of her BFA Acting rejection and I found out through an apologetic email to ME, not even bothering to email her directly. At that point she didn’t care, hence I was the one inquiring just to get that closure. We got the infamous Montclair socks in the mail the next day (she had been academically accepted), lol.
@lithpool congrats for your S for the play! Always appreciative for first hand experience with schools, Coastal will definitely stay as a safety school for my S!
@NYYFanNowMTdad my comment must have been confusing, we actually aren’t waiting to hear from anymore prescreens…all 3 have gotten back to my S in one way or another thankfully! What I meant about the wait for Wagner is just they review the app for general acceptance and advise by mid Jan. If you are admitted to the school academically then every performance major attends one on campus audition day on 3/1 (my S is not attending Combines)…thanks for the input about reaching out though, it’s stories like yours that make me feel less guilty about being a “nudge” because I don’t assume it can’t happen to me…LOL
Got the official no from CCM. Still waiting on Oklahoma and Illinois Wesleyan. Prescreen results:
No- Pace, Texas State, Otterbein, Elon, CCM
Redirect to Acting -Syracuse, Emerson
Pass- Point Park, Penn State, Ithaca, Rider, Shenandoah, Carnegie, CCPA
15 live auditions scheduled between December and February.
BFA MT acceptance to Marymount Manhattan from Cleveland Unifieds.
Moving over to the venting thread. BAL to all our kids who will certainly bloom where they are planted!
@theaterkidmom just to clarify my post #528 was meant to support your statement that many kids do not pass even when we dont see them posted here as you noted from the convos w your coach in post #527, hopefully no offense was taken as none was intended by me and IMHO your statement was totally fine…never know how emails or texts can be perceived
I have seen a few people mention Combines in NYC…what are those? TIA!
oh gosh, no offense taken at all @NYYFanNowMTdad !! I read your comment as though you were giving advice to reach out because you thought we were still waiting to hear, reading it back now with that context I can see how it was just a general statement
@MTnervousmom congrats on the acceptance to MM! It’s a great school
For those hearing from CCM, is it through email, get accepted? I submitted to them first - way back in August and they will be the last to get back to me!
We are also still waiting on CCM. My S did a live prescreen at the Cleveland CMT auditions.
We heard back within a week via email for CCM.
@NYDreammom and @theatrekidmom Montclair ALWAYS ‘forgets’ to notify, right? Just wait a few months until there are dozens of posts about how Montclair hasn’t bothered to notify, or to respond to calls/emails/etc. It’s a great school with some really excellent training but not notifying/responding is so unprofessional. They could literally hire a minimum wage work study student to sit at a computer for a short time to type in the email addresses on a form letter.
New families who haven’t heard about this can search this MT forum and see that this is a pattern for YEARS.
At least the kids get their consolation socks, right?
@WDWMom NYC Combines have grown in the past several years. Several schools gather in one spot and students can audition for all of them at the same time. I believe that last year, you had to get on a line to sign up and once all the spots were taken, that was it. A great opportunity to audition once and have several schools see you. Kind of similar to the audition process for the MFA programs at URTA, I believe.
@lovetoact Agreed and yes, unprofessional all the while constantly receiving marketing mail from the main admissions office. And it’s not like they are unaware of the issue, they just choose to ignore.
@DramaLove2020 My daughter submitted her prescreens to CCM on 10/20 and received a Pass message on 11/4. It was a direct email (not through Get Accepted) sent from CCM admissions. subject: “Your CCM audition has been scheduled” . It looked like aa general school email but it was the pre-screen decision. PRIOR to this message she got a get accepted message telling her to check the portal and make sure everything was complete. In the portal was the follow-up application and audition request form. That had a fee… so there was the school application and fee, the get accepted upload and fee, and then the 3rd audition request form and fee. That seems like an excessive time to wait for an answer. Maybe check the portal to make sure your child isn’t missing something and make sure you did that 3rd step that, for us, was different from other schools? Or call to make sure your’s hasn’t been lost. That happens sometimes, and happened to us with my older daughter at a different school. Good Luck!
@SingerDancerMom - no kidding!! All of that done, and checked and emailed several times! Will do it again!
Message from CCM after we inquired today: “We have received all of your materials. The faculty are slowly getting around to reviewing and releasing their decisions. We do not have an exact date that you can expect to hear back from them but since the submissions deadline is Dec 1, we are hoping that they are ready to release all decisions shortly after that date.”
Yes they sent us that month ago when we emailed (I posted on venting thread by mistake:(. Wonder if it has to do with on campus vs. off? (we sent in Sept)
@PNWdrama
Thank you and all the best to your daughter!
Yes, they required a headshot/resume - just one
@rickle1
When did you hear from Syracuse? We submitted on 11/1 and are still waiting…
@PNWdrama
My son said that there were no interview questions at the BW audition
