Has anyone submitted the optional pre-screen to Miami and heard back with results? I feel like we are in the twilight zone with that one.
@nomeansnext Heard about a week ago. SHe submitted awhile ago but they didn’t have all her stuff. Was missing LORs and some other things. Not sure when they looked at the prescreen.
@Dance3Looks3 I would definitely cally Miami. My D did an on-campus audition with them, and when I asked about submitting a pre-screen, I was told no…just let them know when she wanted to audition.
After asking her about Boco seveal times, she finally told me they’re the only school that doesn’t show receiving anything. She applied in Sept. Apparently her whole app must have fallen through the cracks. She spoke with someone yesterday and her prescreen is now officially on the waitlist. This was one of her favorites and it looks liek they’ll never even get to looking at her prescreen.
Make sure your kids are following up. She had been checking email multiple times a day but never thought it was strnage she didn’t receive any correspondence from Boco (portal sign in, ID #, nothing). oh well…next!
Congrats on all prescreen successes and hugs for those that fell prey to the Randomness. Only 3 of D’s schools require Prescreens and she took some lumps. 2 No’s and 1 Acting Redirect. One No was “The Dream School” and she took it hard knowing she was never even going to get off home plate there.
I’m starting to 2nd guess D so I figured I would ask here instead of retransferring the stress on her. My understanding was that Hartt and NYU Tisch aren’t prescreen schools. Did she skip a step or are the posters above talking about academic passes? We have auditions scheduled at both and did not submit a prescreen. I’m in the height of all the chaos of scheduling with her and while everything I see on the websites indicates no prescreen, I’m having visions of her being turned away at the door. So tough keeping track of all of this.
@Sitzprobe , Hartt is definitely not a prescreen school…my D has an audition scheduled as well. Not sure about NYU as my D isn’t applying there, but I’m sure someone with knowledge will chime in shortly.
I agree, it is EXTREMELY hard keeping track of all of this!
@Sitzprobe You are correct, Hartt and NYU Tisch are non-prescreen schools. I believe NYU Steinhardt does have a pre-screen however. Some people have confused the request from NYU Tisch for information in the artistic review portal as a prescreen even though there are no videos required. Maybe this is leading to some confusion?
A bit late to the party here, but wanted to say thanks to NYYFanNowMTDad for bringing up the issue of posting No’s–it’s definitely helpful to see the full range of results, even though you really can’t compare your own results to others. Seeing the whole spectrum makes you realize how random the process can be!
D’s first pre-screen result was a redirect from Emerson and then shortly after got a No from Pace, which felt discouraging, so she didn’t want to spread the news… But those were followed by a few Yes’s, and she’s now feeling in decent shape going into live auditions–we’d been worried she would need to add schools, but now feel like she can stick with her current list (16 schools, including 1 non-audition safety–7 required pre-screens).
Sitzprobe–sorry to hear your D fell prey to the “randomness”! This process is definitely crazy-making! D has a friend who is now happily settled into her freshman year at a great BFA program who didn’t pass any pre-screens last year. Knowing that ahead of time helped my D recognize that passing pre-screens wasn’t necessarily a do-or-die decision. Some kids may shine brighter in person than on video. So best of luck to your D on the next phase!
The Miami optional prescreen was a no for my D.
@anastasiasmom Did she hear back fairly quickly? Or did it take awhile? We’ve had everything in for several weeks, my daughter emailed to ask if they needed anything else from us and the person who responded scolded her for submitting her application to the university and the supplemental MT application before getting her prescreen result … so that one just feels strange in a way the others we’re waiting on don’t.
It took about 2 weeks to get the results back. The rejection email simply said you did not pass the prescreen with a signature from someone in the department. Shortest prescreen rejection email yet.
And Wow. My D submitted her application too because she didn’t see that they said something about waiting until you got the prescreen results back until after she submitted the application. Not sure why they were so rude to your D though. There really is no need to add that kind of stress to an already stressful situation for these kids.
IF we are sharing NO’s. - I got a NO from Indiana, Penn State and redirect to acting from Emerson. I did pass 10 prescreens and got a BFA acceptance so you forget about the No’s really fast!
^ Way to go!
@DramaLove2020 Congratulations!!!
I may have put Harry as a pass and it may have just been a schedule ? Yes that is correct!!! She applied sending all the things they asked for but. It a prescreen!! They then wrote to her and offered her an audition! Sorry if I created any confusion! BAL EVERYONE!!
Hi everyone! I haven’t been posting much because my D told me, in no uncertain terms, that she did not want me to post ANY of her prescreen or final results until the audition season is over – and then she said she would consider letting me tell her story in a final decisions post. I don’t post a ton, but I’ve been on CC since she was in the 7th grade and I read posts several times a week typically, so it’s been hard for me to refrain from joining in! She has given me the ok to answer questions that we have the answers to that could help someone…for example, if she’s already been to an audition at a particular school and can offer info on audition procedures…but she is really private and protective about her journey in this process so far, and I promised her I would respect that (she isn’t even telling family or friends results…just her coaches). So, all that to say, we are in this with you all, going through the same roller coaster of emotions, fears, and doubts, and I’ll chime in when I can. Hopefully all of our children will come out of this at the end with an acceptance to his or her perfect fit!
@muttsandMT is a WEALTH of knowledge and her D is a rockstar…thanks for chiming in!
Such a crazy process!! Not sure when to post results as we are still in the middle of it all, but this is what we’ve got so far:
Passes at: Carnegie, Pace, Ithaca, Emerson, Syracuse, Texas State, Univ. of OK, TCU, Illinois Wesleyan, Rider, Missouri State, Coastal Carolina, Central OK, Wright, Kent, Marymount, OK State
No’s: Montclair, Shenandoah, Webster
Fully Accepted in MT program and in School: Rider, Wright and one other I’ve been told not to reveal.
Still waiting on: Elon, CCM, Roosevelt, Penn State, Otterbein
Haven’t applied yet but will: Michigan, NYU and OK City, Baldwin Wallace, Northwestern.
30 schools! Wow!
One question…how did Montclair give you a no there are no prescreens and they haven’t begun auditions?
@SavsMom Webster and Montclair don’t do pre-screens… so how are those no’s?
And are you saying that Rider, Wright State, and another school have already given official BFA offers out???
So we are waiting on 3 more. Of those, it sounds like Penn State and Elon release on specific dates, but what about UMich? We submitted after the early date, so has anyone who also did that heard anything yet? Or does anyone know when we might hear? So anxious to wrap this up!
