It seems like you are all doing a great job of collectively answering the questions popping up on this thread, but if you need a more detailed answer, just email me (Wayne Petro) Recruitment Coordinator, at wpetro@pace.edu OR my wonderful student aides at performingarts@pace.edu.

We’ve been very quick with issuing callbacks and confirmation of your audition date - usually about 3 days - though it was about a week right after Thanksgiving as a lot of people filmed over the break. The university is closed from December 21st to January 2nd, so while faculty members are actively reviewing Acceptd videos from home, my staff and I will not be at work to send audition callbacks and confirmations. We always sort Acceptd auditions based on their submission date, so if you submit on Friday, December 20th, at 3pm, you’ll likely hear very shortly after we return from the break.

No - all official decisions are made in March after our program heads have auditioned all students. We usually start rolling out the decision letters (sent by mail) just before March 15, provided the student has been admitted by the university for academic admission. The only exception are the NYCDA scholarship winners and alternates from this past summer - these eight dancers got acceptance at a public scholarship event during the national conference.

“They told her that this year 300 are making it through pre-screens.” This is actually not accurate information regarding our pre-screens here at Pace. We don’t have a “quota” or a “limit” - it’s really based on each individual audition. If we need to add more dates based on students we’ve called back, then we will (like we had to do last year). I’m confident that we do have enough audition slots to accommodate the increase this year, though. What your friend might have heard was that we’ve ALREADY scheduled 300 auditions (that’s roughly accurate, though on the low side).

Just goes to show that sometimes information is best “from the horses mouth”! :-)

My daughter will be auditioning for Pace MT at unifieds. Will she automatically be considered for the acting/theatre program as well, or is that an additional audition that needs to be scheduled?

Students need to do a separate audition for each program that they are interested in. We will be sending program heads from BFA Musical Theater, BFA Acting, BFA Acting for Film & TV, BA Directing, and BA Acting to both Chicago and LA Unifieds. They need to get a callback from their Acceptd audition to secure an audition spot at Unifieds; the Acting programs might have space for a walk-in, but it’s not guaranteed and they still need to submit through Acceptd.

Thanks so much for the help, Wayne–that makes sense. I just located the full info on the website, which I think we missed back when we submitted the MT pre-screen. (And thanks too for waiving the fee for additional pre-screens).

I noticed that the website audition instructions don’t specify if a student should audition with their pre-screen pieces. Is it safe to assume that it’s okay to use a different piece in person than what was used for the pre-screen?

PacePerfArts ~ Starting to get nervous…my D applied to Pace in October and passed the pre-screen and will audition at Chicago Unifieds, but she still hasn’t received an academic decision. Do you know if the academic acceptances being rolled out are for Early Action or Regular Decision? She applied for Regular Decision, and even her online portal is still just showing as “Complete,” and not “Decision Made.”

I just checked the Pace App Portal for my S, and it says “A decision has been made and your official decision letter has been mailed to you.” He applied regular decision (the only option at Pace for theater/performing arts majors) and is scheduled to audition during NY Unifieds. The Pace website says that you may receive your academic decision either before or after your audition; it all depends on the timing of your app materials.

DoReMiMom - Son received his big envelope on 12/26. He sent in his Common App on 9/28, so it could be they are sending out decisions as they make their way through the applications and they haven’t made it to through October yet. :)

Thanks everyone. My D’s common app went in mid-October, and we sent and submitted all requirements shortly thereafter. Pace is at the top of her list, so I’m hoping the delay doesn’t indicate a rejection.

Thanks Dannyhelms. She received notification that she passed her prescreen about 3 or 4 days after submitting it. I’m more concerned with the status of her academic decision right now. It seems many people have gotten their acceptances or rejections. She’s gotten neither. :(

I wouldn’t read much into it. I recall they were famously slow last year and I called them a couple of times about it, because last year you couldn’t audition until you had your academic acceptance. Sounds like they’ve changed that this year? Anyway, you can call the admissions office- it has nothing to do with the theatre dept-- and explain to the admissions counselor that it’s been awhile and you just wanted to make sure everything is complete, etc, and that you were wondering when a decision would be made. I could be entirely wrong, but i just had the feeling when I called that it might have just been sitting somewhere because once they looked they told me it was going to an adcomms for review right away, and then a favorable decision was received within two weeks of the call. I knew it was a very strong packet for their average stats, so the delay seemed unusual. In any event, it came with a huge award, but my child chose elsewhere.

Academic acceptance letters are still being received. I’m sure the holiday has everything to do with why your daughter hasn’t heard yet, DoReMiMom.

S applied to Pace before November 1, sent in pre-screen during Thanksgiving weekend. It took about 4 days to hear back about the pre-screen. Acceptance packet to the school was received right before Christmas.
